ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University baseball team swept Missouri S&T in a doubleheader Saturday (April 20) at Brennan Field. The Flyers won game one, 4-2, and game two 8-0. Lewis is now on a nine-game winning streak including eight straight GLVC wins.
GAME 1 TEAM RECORDS

GAME 1 SUMMARY
Lewis started fast, loading the bases with no outs. Missouri S&T then got a double play but 
Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) scored on the play to put the Flyers up 1-0. The Miners answered with a solo home run in the top of the second to tie it at one.
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) sent a blast out to right field for a solo shot in the bottom of the second but S&T again answered with a solo homer of its own to tie it 2-2 in the third. 
Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill.) put Lewis ahead again with a drive to center for another solo deep fly in the bottom of the third.
The Flyers had three straight singles in the bottom of the fifth as Kocen scored on 
Jason Krol's (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) single to add an insurance run and make it 4-2. 
Michael Sclafani (Oak Brook, Ill./Montini Catholic) (5-4) earned the win on the mound, throwing five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks with one strikeout.
Collin Amsden (Oak Forest, Ill./Marist) came on for the sixth and seventh and earned his fifth save of the season after holding the Miners scoreless, scattering three hits with no walks and striking out one batter.

GAME 2 SUMMARY
Lewis scored first in game two as Fox hit a leadoff double and later scored on a sacrifice fly by 
Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita). The Flyers then took off in the second inning, scoring six runs to bust the game open with a 7-0 lead.
Kocen started the two-out rally with a double to bring home 
Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) and 
Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin). McDevitt then singled in Kocen, and two batters later 
Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) blasted a three-run homer to center that brought McDevitt and Krol around to score to cap off the rally.
Lewis added on to its lead in the bottom of the fourth as 
Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) doubled and Headrick hit him home to bring the lead to 8-0. 
Luke Carlson (Granville, Ill./Putnam County) earned the win (3-3) going all seven innings and pitching a shutout allowing five hits and four walks, striking out seven.
