TEAM RECORDS
Lewis 22-19 (15-13 GLVC) | Missouri S&T 22-20 (12-16 GLVC)

GAME SUMMARY
Both teams had runners on base in each of the first three innings, but neither side could score until Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) led off the bottom of the third with a home run to right field to put Lewis up 1-0. It was a bullpen day for the Flyers, as no pitcher threw more than two innings.

Christopher Seropian (Chicago, Ill.) got the start and threw two scoreless innings on no hits, two walks and two strikeouts. Daniel Rosado (Burbank, Ill.) followed with two more scoreless frames, giving up two hits and no walks, striking out three batters.

Missouri S&T got on the board with back-to-back solo home runs in the top of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead. Lewis got back into the lead with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

After Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) drew a leadoff walk, Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) singled to right center and McDevitt advanced to third and the Miners third baseman then threw the ball away allowing McDevitt to score and bringing Krol around to third base. Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) then hit a sacrifice fly to score Krol and put the Flyers ahead 3-2.

Luke Brown (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) worked two innings on the mound for Lewis, giving up no runs on three hits without any walks or strikeouts. Another solo homer by Missouri S&T in the top of the eighth tied the score at 3-3.

Krol hit a huge home run to lead off the bottom half and put the Flyers back on top, 4-3. Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) added on insurance runs with a two-run shot to right center later in the inning that scored Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) and pushed the lead to 6-3.

Another solo homer from the Miners made it 6-4 in the top of the ninth but Colin Amsden stranded runners on the corners to finish the win and earn his sixth save of the season. Jackson Bruno (Chicago, Ill./Notre Dame Prep) (3-1) got the win after pitching the eighth inning and allowing one run on three hits and with one strikeout.
