Lewis Men's Lacrosse Falls at #11 Indianapolis Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Lewis University men's lacrosse team suffered its first GLVC loss of the season, falling 15-10 at No. 11 Indianapolis Saturday (April 20).

GAME SUMMARY
FIRST QUARTER: Indianapolis 4, Lewis 4
Indianapolis scored the first three goals to take an early lead. McLean scored off an assist from Kevin Blaz (McHenry, Illinois/Marian Central Catholic HS) to get Lewis on the board.

After the Greyhounds scored another goal to make it 4-1, the Flyers scored the last three goals of the first frame to tie it at four. First, Bayden Boyenko found Logan Suchy (Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota/Simley HS) to get Lewis within two.

Next, it was Michael Metheny (Fishers, Indiana/Hamilton Southeastern HS) finding the back of the net for the Flyers, then McLean scored again in the final minute to even the score. Rathe made three saves in the first quarter.

SECOND QUARTER: Indianapolis 7, Lewis 2
Indianapolis scored the first five goals of the second quarter to go up 9-4. Good then struck back for the Flyers with a goal off of an assist by Joe Janda (Livonia, Michigan/St. Mary's Preparatory HS / University of Detroit Mercy) before the Greyhounds scored two more to make it 11-5.

McLean found the back of the net again with 30 seconds left until halftime to make it 11-6 at the break. Rathe picked up five saves in the frame.

THIRD QUARTER: Indianapolis 2, Lewis 2
UIndy scored first in the third to bring its lead back up to six. Lewis then scored the next two goals as Good picked up a pair of assists, with Dominic Bravata (Portage, Michigan/Portage Northern HS) scoring first followed by Paul Ruskoski (Tulsa, Oklahoma/Bishop Kelley HS) scoring with the Flyers a man up to make it 12-8.

The Greyhounds scored another goal before the period was over to push the lead to 13-8 going to the final frame. Rathe made five more saves in the third to help keep Lewis in the game.

FOURTH QUARTER: Indianapolis 2, Lewis 2
The Flyers scored the first two goals of the fourth to get within three, 13-10. Evan Clement (San Diego, California/Mt. Carmel HS / CCBC-Essex) scored first, followed by Blaz connecting on a shot at the 9:50 mark.

Unfortunately for Lewis, that was as close as it would get as Indianapolis scored two goals to back up by five and finish the 15-10 victory.

FINAL SCORE: Indianapolis 15, Lewis 10
