ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University softball team honored its seniors after the Flyers swept both games against Quincy Saturday (April 27). The Flyers won the first game 3-1 then won the second 4-2.

Meghan Bontrager (Milford, IN/Northridge),
Evie Calderon (Chicago, IL/Whitney Young),
Jalyn Powell (Tolono, IL/Unity),
Payton Wuske (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East),
Grace Erickson (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way Central) and
Gabi Nilles (North Aurora, IL/West Aurora) after both contests Saturday.

GAME SUMMARY
Both teams were scoreless in the first three innings. Lewis broke through with a pair of runs in the fourth inning to go ahead 2-0.
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School) started the scoring in the fourth inning with her RBI single to left which scored
Erica Hoffman (Hebron, IN/Boone Grove High School) to make it 1-0. Bontrager then hit a sacrifice fly to left which scored Powell from third to double the lead at 2-0.
Quincy got one back in the top of the fifth to make it 2-1 for its only run of the contest. Lewis responded in the bottom of the sixth after Powell connected on her seventh home run of the season with a solo shot to left to make it 3-1.
Wuske (4-3) got the win in the circle after going all seven innings, allowing only two hits, one run (unearned), walking three and striking two.

GAME SUMMARY
Lewis quickly made it 1-0 in the first inning after Hoffman connected on her third home run of the season with a solo shot to left center. Both teams were held off the scoreboard in the second and third inning to keep in 1-0 in favor of the Flyers.
Anna Frafjord (Sussex, WI/Hamilton High School) tied it at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth as the sophomore recorded her eighth home run of the year after recording a solo shot to dead center. Both teams did not score in the fifth before Lewis rallied in the sixth.
Bontrager singled on a bunt which scored Frafjord to make it 3-2 Lewis.
Mackenzie Sheehan (Kansasville, Wis./Union Grove) gave Lewis a 4-2 lead after reaching on a fielder's choice which scored Graham.
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) (17-6) recorded the win after going seven innings, allowing four hits, giving up two runs, issuing two walks and striking out seven.

Lewis will be back in action Thursday, May 2 for the opening round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Tournament which is set to take place at Eastside Centre in East Peoria, Illinois.
