ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University women's lacrosse team beat Dominican University of California, 24-13, Tuesday (April 9) at Lewis Stadium.

GAME SUMMARY
FIRST QUARTER: Lewis 5, Dominican 3
Lewis started fast, scoring the first five goals of the contest including three in the first four minutes. Winterlik had the opening score in the game to give her 30 goals on the season, then scored again to put the Flyers up 2-0.
Serritella then scored before Winterlik added a goal off a free-position shot. Bowen got in on the scoring action to make it 5-0 Lewis.
Dominican climbed back in it with three goals before the first frame was over. Templeton had two saves in the first quarter.
SECOND QUARTER: Lewis 8, Dominican 3
The Flyers took off early in the second quarter, scoring the first six goals of the game to open up the lead to 11-3. Both of the first two goals of the frame were scored by
Heidi Sweeney (New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada/New Westminster) with assists from Davidson.
Winterlik scored another free-position goal and then added a traditional score to make it 9-3 Lewis. Serritella then scored on a free-position opportunity before Bowen found
Sydney Able (Aurora, Colo./Regis Jesuit) for the next goal.
The Penguins got one goal back, then Procyk scored back-to-back goals to put the Flyers up 13-4. Dominican scored two more goals to make it 13-6 at halftime. Templeton made two more stops in the second frame.
THIRD QUARTER: Lewis 5, Dominican 4
The Penguins scored the first goal of the second half and then Davidson scored off an assist from Procyk to restore Lewis' lead to seven, 14-7. Dominican scored the next goal to make it 14-8.
The Flyers got back on the board as Bowen assisted Serritella, then Bowen had the assist again on
Emma Stanek's (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) goal that made it 16-8. The Penguins scored the next two goals to get within six, 16-10.
Bowen scored again at the 3:27 mark, then Winterlik went end-to-end to score after forcing a turnover on Lewis' side of the field to make it 18-10.
FOURTH QUARTER: Lewis 6, Dominican 3
Serritella opened the scoring in the fourth with a goal after a pass from Davidson before Dominican scored to get it back to an eight-goal game at 19-11. The Flyers scored the next three goals to continue pulling away.
The next goal came from Serritella on a free-position shot, followed by Bowen finding Sweeney for a score. Winterlik made it 22-11 with her seventh goal of the game before the Penguins got a goal back.
Serritella scored the next goal for Lewis and Winterlik added a free-position goal to make it 24-12. Dominican scored one more goal before time expired to close the scoring on the contest.
FINAL SCORE: Lewis 24, Dominican 13
