ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University baseball team split a doubleheader against Indianapolis Friday (May 3) at Brennan Field. The Flyers won game one, 7-4, and the Greyhounds won the second game 10-6.

GAME 1 SUMMARY
Lewis broke the scoring open with a six-run bottom of the second. Two walks and a hit batter loaded the bases before 
Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) drew a walk to score 
Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic), then 
Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) walked to bring home 
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist).
Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill.) then bashed a grand slam to cap off the scoring rally and made it 6-0 Flyers. Fox hit a sacrifice fly to score 
Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) and make it 7-0 in the third.
UIndy hit a grand slam in the top of the seventh but that was all the Greyhounds would get as Lewis hung on for the 7-4 win. 
Michael Sclafani (Oak Brook, Ill./Montini Catholic) (5-3) earned the win after throwing five scoreless innings, allowing one hit, issuing four walks and striking out three.

GAME 2 SUMMARY
The Flyers scored first again in game two as 
Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) singled home Kocen in the bottom of the first to make it 1-0. Indianapolis scored six runs in the top of the second to take a big lead.
Lewis scored three times in the bottom of the third to get back into it. Kocen scored on a balk, then Cantelo hit an RBI double to bring home Krol before Bilecki hit a double that brought Cantelo across the plate to make it 6-4.
Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) reached on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the fourth that scored Keaty to get the Flyers within one. UIndy responded with three runs in the top of the fifth to bring its lead to 9-5.
The Greyhounds added one more run in the sixth to make it 10-5. McDevitt smacked an RBI double in the bottom of the inning to plate Kocen, making it 10-6 and that score would hold for the final.
Luke Carlson (Granville, Ill./Putnam County) (3-4) took the loss on the mound for Lewis, going two innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on four hits, issuing three walks and striking out four.

Lewis baseball finishes the season with one more game against UIndy Saturday (May 4) at noon CT. Before the game, the Flyers will honor the team's 10 seniors and hold a jersey retirement ceremony for #24 Tom Brennan and #19 Rick Baranak.
