SUMMARY
The Greyhounds opened the scoring with a leadoff triple and the runner scoring on a passed ball. The lead was extended to 2-0 in the bottom of the third on a RBI single.
Lewis got on the board in the top of the fourth as
Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) opened the inning with a home run to left field. The Flyers looked to even the score in the fifth after back-to-back batters got hit by a pitch to open the inning. However, a double play and a ground out left a runner stranded on third base.
Indianapolis regained its two-run lead in the bottom of the sixth on a RBI single. Lewis cut the deficit in half right back in the top of the seventh. A
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) single was followed by a
Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) double and a
Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) walk to load the bases with no outs. The Flyers could only muster one run from there on a
Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill.) sacrifice fly.
The lead was extended to 5-2 in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run home run. Lewis went down in order in the eighth inning and only had a Fox single in the ninth as the game ended with a strikeout.
Headrick had two hits to lead the Flyer offense.
Dylan Wolff (Joliet, Ill.) went six innings on the mound, allowing two earned runs on seven hits, striking out two.
