Flyer Bowling Adds Six To Roster

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University women's bowling team has added six new bowlers to its roster for the 2024-25 season Director of Bowling Scott Taylor announced July 26. Hanna Hale, Nina Kick, Kadie Kontos, Leah McCandless, Marissa Metcalfe and Gabby Skop will be joining the Flyers this fall.
 
Hale is transferring from Georgian Court University, which did not have a collegiate bowling team. Hale is fresh off a top 24 finish in the USBC U22 Queens Tournament this spring. She also finished in first place in the 2023 Bowl4Life DV8 Shootout in 2023 and was the first-place finisher in the Girls Division and second place overall in the Teen Master's Twilight Zone Tournament in 2023.
 
The marketing major earned several awards as a high school senior in Hazlet, New Jersey. She was awarded the USBC Zeb Award for bowling involvement, community service and academic success, she was a 2022 USBC Dexter All-American, she was named Player of the Year and was awarded the Coach's Award.
 
Kick is a radio/TV broadcasting major from Curie High School in Chicago. She finished in the top 10 of the Chicago Public League all four years, including winning the individual title her junior season. She advanced to state her sophomore season after finishing in the top four of the Hinsdale South Sectional.
 
Kontos has been a member of the Lockport High School girls bowling team. She was a part of the regional, sectional and state champions her junior season and helped the team to a third-place finish her senior season.
 
McCandless, a digital media and journalism major from Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, concluded her senior season with a 203 average with a high game of 300 and series of 735. She improved her average 17 pins from her junior year.
 
She was named the Northeast Section Girls MVP with the high game in the league and third high series. She was named to the WPIBL First Team and was the Western Pennsylvania Regional champion.
 
Metcalfe, a graduate transfer from St. Francis University PA, is planning on getting her MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Lewis. She was named a NEC Prime Performer four times her junior season, where she averaged 18.38 in baker play and 18.72 in traditional play per frame. She made a pair of all-tournament teams as a senior while averaging 186.3 for the season.
 
The Dyer, Indiana native had an impressive prep career, averaging a 209 her junior season, which was third in the state, and being named First Team All-State and finished ninth place in the state. Her senior season she had a high game of 299 and high series of 789, while winning numerous titles across the high school and Junior Gold circuits.
 
Skop is a psychology major from Stagg High School. She was a member of the two-time regional champions at Stagg and qualified for state three straight years.

Lewis will be opening its season Oct. 11 at the Penguin Classic in Struthers, Ohio. A full schedule release will be announced later this summer.
