DENVER -- The No. 23 Lewis University women's volleyball team picked up a road victory against host No. 24 Regis 3-1 and then lost to (RV) Dallas Baptist 3-1 Saturday (Sept. 14).

SET BREAKDOWN vs. REGIS
Set 1: Lewis 25, Regis 22
Lewis jumped out to an early 8-2 lead in the set before Regis looked to mount a comeback and scored the next four out of five points to make it 9-6 Flyers.
The Rangers responded by tying the set at 12-12 then took the lead 15-13. The Flyers bounced back with three straight points including back-to-back kills from King and Alvey to make it 16-15.
Lewis was able to hang on and take the first set 25-22 after a kill from Ray.
Set 2: Regis 25, Lewis 13
Lewis led 4-2 early after a block from
Mallory Januski (Bourbonnais, Ill./Valparaiso) and Alvey but then it was all Regis from that point. The Rangers rallied for six straight points to grab a 10-6 lead and never looked back.
The Flyers looked to mount a comeback and made it 16-10 in favor of the Rangers after a kill from Ray but Regis stayed ahead and won the set 25-13.
Set 3: Lewis 26, Regis 24
Lewis jumped out to an early 4-1 lead after a kill from Stefanski. Regis had the answer and went on a 11-3 rally which put the Rangers ahead 12-7.
Regis went up 19-13 before the Flyers put up five straight points to cut it to one (19-18) after back-to-back blocks from O'Neil and Buxton. The Rangers went up 23-19 before Lewis forced set point after rallying off five in a row including a pair of service aces from Alvey and a kill from Stefanski.
The Flyers closed out the set and won it 26-24.
Set 4: Lewis 25, Regis 19
Lewis jumped out to an early 7-3 lead after a kill from Ray. Regis bought back with an 8-4 run which tied it at 11-11.
The Flyers responded with four straight capped off by an ace by
Elena Gubera (Jamestown, Ind./Western Boone). The Rangers fought back again tie it at 16-16 but Lewis had the upper hand the rest of the way,
Lewis outscored Regis 9-3 the rest of the way to win it 25-19 and the match 3-1.

Set 1: DBU 41, Lewis 39
Lewis jumped out to an early 6-2 lead after a kill from Stefanski. Dallas Baptist responded by scoring four out of the next five points to tie it at 7-7.
Moments later, the Patriots led 14-11 before Lewis rallied for five straight points to take a 16-14 lead. Both teams went back and forth before DBU forced set point after going up 24-21.
The Flyers scored three points in a row after a pair of kills from Alvey and an ace by King. Both teams went back and forth until the Patriots scored the last three points to win the set 41-39.
Set 2: Lewis 26, DBU 24
Both teams went back and forth until Dallas Baptist jumped out to a 14-11 lead after scoring three straight points. Lewis was able to rally and take the lead after back-to-back kills from O'Neill and Alvey.
Moments later, Lewis forced set point after a kill by O'Neil made it 24-22. DBU rallied and tied before the Flyers were able to take the set after back-to-back kills from Stefanski and Hickey won the set 26-24 and tied the match 1-1.
Set 3: DBU 25, Lewis 23
Lewis jumped out to an early 4-0 lead with two straight aces by Alvey. The Flyers led until midway through the first set then Dallas Baptist grabbed an 18-17 advantage.
The Flyers led 19-18 but that would be their last lead of the set as Dallas Baptist won 25-23.
Set 4: DBU 25, Lewis 16
A Lewis block from Buxton and Ray made it 2-1 lead but then the set became all Patriots. DBU went on to score five straight points to grab a 6-2 lead then had control the rest of the way.
The Flyers tried to get back in the set after winning three straight points after kills from Stefanski and Buxton and an ace from Hickey to make it 16-10 DBU but that was the closest the score was. DBU ended up winning the fourth set 25-16 and the match 3-1.
