QUINCY, Ill. – The Lewis University men's soccer team came away with a tie after leading 1-0 at half then the Hawks had a second-half goal for a 1-1 tie Sunday (Sept. 15).

HALF BREAKDOWN
First Half: Lewis 1, Quincy 0
Lewis looked to score early after striking early in the first eight minutes of the contest but none found the back of the net. Quincy found an opening in the 9' looking for an early lead but its shot attempt was saved by Doppelhofer.
Both teams traded shots including one from
Makonnen Stampley (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) but it was off target. Asore gave Lewis a 1-0 lead in the 26' after Czosnyka found him for the score.
The Hawks looked to quickly tie it a minute later but Doppelhofer recorded the save.
Noah Kawaguchi (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) had a shot but hit the post in the 28'.
Kawaguchi, Gorodnickis, Czosnyka all had shots on target in the 35', 36', 37' but Quincy's goalie saved them all.
Mohammed Sanyang (London, England/Heartland CC) had an opening as he looked to double the Lewis lead in the 40' and 44' but both were also saved.
Second Half: Quincy 1, Lewis 0
Quincy had its first scoring chance in the 49' and found the back of the net after Mathias Bringedal found Leo Cann to tie it at 1-1 early in the second half. Gorodnickis looked to make it 2-1 and give the Flyers back the lead with his next shot attempt however the Hawks picked up the save.
Storm Johansen (Trondheim, Norway/Kristen Videregaaende Troendelag) and Czosnyka tried to give Lewis a 2-1 lead in the 62' and 67' but their shots were saved. Both teams recorded shot attempts the rest of the way including Kawaguchi in the 87' that was on target but it was saved.
