ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The No. 12 Lewis University men's volleyball team defeated Rockhurst 3-0 at Neil Carey Arena Friday (Jan. 17). The Flyers have now won 12 straight sets to begin their 2025 season.

SET BREAKDOWN
SET 1: Lewis 25, Rockhurst 19
Both teams scored a pair of points to begin the match before Lewis scored four straight points including kills from Haber and Roquet to make it 6-2. Moments later, the Flyers made it 14-11 midway through the set.
Rockhurst responded with three straight points to tie the set at 14-14 then Lewis called timeout. Both teams each traded the next four points to make it 16-16.
The Flyers extended its lead to 21-17 after a kill from Morgan. Lewis closed out the set after going on a 4-2 rally and won it 25-19.
SET 2: Lewis 25, Rockhurst 21
Both teams scored six points to begin the set before back-to-back kills
Frederick Krueger-Beer (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa East) and Haber made it 8-6. It went back and forth for the next few points until it was 14-14.
Lewis proceeded to score four straight to grab an 18-14 advantage. The Flyers proceeded to lead throughout the rest of the set.
Haber recorded the last three points by kills to close out the second. Lewis won the second set 25-21 to go up 2-0.
SET 3: Lewis 25, Rockhurst 12
Lewis jumped out to an early 6-2 lead after a kill from Haber. Rockhurst scored the next point before the Flyers proceeded with the next three points including a kill from
Oguzhan Oguz (Bursa, Turkey/Ocean).
Rockhurst tried to get back in the set after getting four straight to make it 13-11 Lewis. The Flyers responded with four in a row of their own after a pair of kills from Oguz and an ace from Roquet to make it 17-11.
The Flyers were able to close out the match on a 12-1 run after the four straight points by Rockhurst. Lewis won the third set 25-12 and the match 3-0.
UP NEXT
Lewis will be back in action Saturday, January 18 as the Flyers host No. 2 Long Beach State for Alumni Night starting at 7 p.m. CT. We will also be raising funds for the California Wildfires for the United Way Wildfire Response Fund as all the 50-50 proceeds will go there and 25 percent of the gate will benefit the fund.
