KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- The Lewis University men's basketball team saw its winning streak end as the Flyers fell to Truman State 74-72 Saturday (Jan. 18) in a game of runs.

GAME SUMMARY
Lewis jumped out to an early 12-8 lead after back-to-back layups from Renfro. Truman State tied it three minutes later at 15-15 with a 7-3 run.
The Flyers proceeded to go on a 10-2 run the next five minutes capped off by a three-pointer from
Jaylin Gibson (Evanston,IL/Evanston Township) which made it 25-17 with 5:39 to play in the half. The Bulldogs cut it down to two (29-27) with 2:27 remaining.
Stroud responded with a bucket to end the drought. Truman State closed out the half with seven unanswered points to give the Bulldogs a 34-31 advantage at the break.
Truman State came out the gate with back-to-back buckets to begin the second half to extend its lead out to 38-31. Lewis was able to get two straight baskets of their own to respond after a three-pointer and a jumper by Stroud converted.
Moments later, the Bulldogs extended its lead out to 52-42 with 11:20 remaining in the contest. Lewis proceeded to score 14 unanswered the next four minutes to grab a 56-52 lead including a three-pointer by
Anthony Sayles Jr. (Evanston, Ill./Notre Dame Prep) which gave
the Flyers an advantage.
The Bulldogs put an end to their drought with a three-pointer to get back in the contest. Stroud recorded a three of his own on the other end to keep it a four-point game.
Truman State proceeded to hit a three and a layup to regain the 60-59 lead with 5:36 to play. The Bulldogs led 68-62 with 3:38 to go in the contest before Lewis was able to score seven straight including five from Renfro to regain a 69-68 advantage with 1:27 left to go.
Both teams would trade buckets then Sayles Jr. split a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left which made it 72-72. Truman State drew the foul with two seconds remaining and knocked down the pair at the charity stripe with won them the game 74-72.
