St. Louis, Mo. – The Lewis women's soccer team lost their second conference match in a row and third of the season Friday (Oct. 24).
With the result, Lewis moves to 6-3-5 with a GLVC record of 5-3-3 while Maryville becomes 9-1-4 with a 7-1-3 conference record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Flyers played a very strong first half defensively allowing no goals and fighting off a Maryville offense which is one of the best offenses in the conference. First half ended 0-0 but the Saints were able to get two goals in the later part of the second half scored by Emily Doane and Sophia Carter.
Jillian Barth (Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill) got her first appearance and start of the season, she performed well with seven saves and allowing two goals. Maryville's Agnes Vilen started in net for the Saints allowing no goals with one save.
MATCH NOTES
- This is Barth's first appearance for the Flyers, spending her freshman year as a backup.
- Breanna Culver (Roscoe, Ill./Wisconsin-Milwaukee) and Jada Harvey (Roscoe, Ill./Rockford Christian) continue to be in the top ten for Shots and Shots on Goal respectfully in the conference.
- This is only the fifth loss ever for the Flyers against Maryville since 2014.
