Romeoville, Ill. - A landslide of first half offensive for the Lewis University men's soccer team gave them all they needed for a conference win on Friday night. (Oct. 31)
Lewis is now 5-5-7 overall with a GLVC record of 4-5-4 while the Praire Stars become 2-11-3 with a 1-10-2 conference record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
With the rain falling and the regular season coming to a close, the Flyers showed up Friday night ready to fight for a post season bid. After a penalty in the first 15 minutes of the contest,
Mikey Revell (Largo, Maryland/Bishop McNamara) stood as the lone Flyer with the only thing between him and the goalie being the ball for a penalty kick. Revell nailed the shot for the go ahead goal.Â
Revell would also be the assist man for a
Jaden Jaime (Kankakee, Ill./Herscher) goal minutes later to give the Flyers a 2-0 lead. The pass would come from the right side towards the top of the keeper's zone, Jaime using the wet turf slid and made contact with the ball putting it into the back of the net, this would conclude scoring for the game.Â
Jeremiah Higgins (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) was in net offering his best performance of the season with four saves and zero goals allowed during the 90 minute stretch. Prairie Stars keeper Edoardo Pinna offered a full 90 with fours saves and 2 goals allowed.
GAME NOTES
- The Maryland native Revell climbs higher as the Lewis points leader with 14 this season.
- This marks Higgins second full 90 minute game shut out the season, first being against the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
- 23 is the highest amount of shots made by the Flyers this season.Â
