#12 Lewis Men’s Volleyball Falls to #10 Pepperdine Saturday

MALIBU, Calif.-- The No. 12 Lewis University men's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback against No. 10 Pepperdine Saturday (Feb. 1).

SET BREAKDOWN
SET 1: Pepperdine 25, Lewis 21
Both teams each scored three points to start the match. Pepperdine scored four straight which gave them a 7-3 lead. 
 
Lewis looked to get back on track after back-to-back points including a kill from Roquet. The Waves made it 8-5 until the Flyers responded with a 4-1 run capped by a block from Morgan which made it 9-9. 
 
Both teams each traded points before four straight from Pepperdine made it 16-12. Daniel Haber (Remsenburg, NY/Westhampton Beach) made it as close as three with a kill but the Waves won the set 25-21.
 
SET 2: Pepperdine 25, Lewis 12
Lewis and Pepperdine each scored a pair of points including a kill from Frederick Krueger-Beer (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa East) but then the set was all Waves. Pepperdine won the set 25-12.

SET 3: Pepperdine 26, Lewis 24
Pepperdine jumped out to an 8-6 lead in the third set. The Flyers were able to tie it at 8-8 after a kill from Oguz and an ace from Roquet. 
 
Both teams went back-and-forth until it was 12-12. Pepperdine went on 4-1 run to grab a 16-13 lead. 
 
Lewis responded with four straight including kills from Oguz and Haber to regain an 17-16 advantage. Moments later, Roquet forced set point after recording a kill to make it 24-22.
 
The Waves were able to close out the set with four straight points of their own. Pepperdine won the set 26-24 and the match 3-0.

Lewis will be back in action Wednesday, February 5 as the Flyers host its Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) home opener against Lindenwood in a WHITE OUT! Make sure you come out and wear white!
