Lewis Men's Lacrosse Records First Home Win of the Season

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University men's lacrosse team fought through the Chicagoland area's cold weather and the visiting Lake Erie State Storm for their first home win of the season.

GAME SUMMARY
FIRST QUARTER: Lewis 5, Lake Erie 1
Malikye Good (Windsor, Ontario, Canada/St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic HS) threw the game's first goal in the back of the net for the Flyers coming off of a good clear attempt. Less than a minute later, Lance McCann (Elmhurst,Illinois/York Community HS) added to the score off another clear to make it 2-0.

Rappis got his first assist of the day with a cross to Hayes, who laced another ball into the back of the net. At 7:51 Lewis' Tyler Davis (Edina, Minnesota/Edina HS) recorded a ground ball pick up and then netted a goal for the Flyers fourth goal in the first quarter.

After the Storm were able to get their first goal of the game, with eight seconds remaining on the quarter, the Flyers notched one more goal before the buzzer to make it a 5-1 game. 

SECOND QUARTER: Lewis 4, Lake Erie 2
Hayes would once again start the quarter with a goal for the Flyers coming off of a second chance from a shot by Luke Schroeder (Plymouth, Minnesota/Totino-Grace HS) which hit post. The Storm would respond quickly this time with a goal a minute later.

Hayes however would throw another shot into the net to set the lead back to five. Rappis scored a goal of his own at 9:52 to add to his team-leading assist game then scored another goal minutes later making it a 9-2 game.

The Storm would finish off the half with a goal to send both squads into halftime with a Lewis leading 9-3.

THIRD QUARTER: Lewis 2, Lake Erie 2
Both teams, with two goals in the quarter, kept the lead at six for the Flyers. Both goals came out of the hands of Hayes with his second goal being assisted by Michael Metheny (Fishers, Indiana/Hamilton Southeastern HS).

FOURTH QUARTER: Lewis 5, Lake Erie 2
Another high-scoring quarter for the Flyers was led off by Good, with another assist from Rappis. Kevin Blaz (McHenry, Illinois/Marian Central Catholic HS) would add his name to the scorecard with a goal off of an assist by Hayes.

Schroeder would cross over to Rappis, who would put another ball in the back of the net. Caleb Chenault (Grand Ledge, Michigan/Grand Ledge HS) and Good would score the final two goals for the Flyers giving them a comfortable lead as the final buzzer sounded.  

FINAL SCORE: Lewis 16, Lake Erie 7
