Lewis Softball Wins Back to Back Games Against GLIAC Opponents at the Dome

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Lewis University softball team won both games at the Dome on Saturday (February 22) with wins against GLIAC opponents Grand Valley State and Wayne State.

GAME 1: Lewis 4, Grand Valley 1

TEAM RECORDS
Lewis 6-7 | Grand Valley 2-5

SUMMARY
Taking the circle for the Flyers, starting pitcher Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) would also score the game's first run in the bottom of the first off of a shot to left from Trausch.

Trausch would have another single to left field, driving in another run to make it a 2-0 game in the 3rd. The defense and pitching would remain strong for Lewis as the game rolled on into the fifth.

An error by the Grand Valley pitcher moved the runners around and gave Lewis their fourth run of the game.

The Lakers scored a run in the sixth off of a double to center field but three straight outs in the top of the seventh gave Lewis their second win of the Dome Tournament.

GAME 2: Lewis 3, Wayne State 2

TEAM RECORDS
Lewis 7-7 | Wayne State 3-3

SUMMARY
The second game of the day was a quiet one on the scoreboard until Lewis loaded the bases in the fifth. The Flyers would put one run on the board after Trausch would be hit by a pitch sending Garden home for the lead.

Wayne State would respond in the top of the sixth with a solo home run. The Warriors would support their lead in the seventh with an additional run.

Lewis would have a well-timed seventh inning with heads-up base running and pure hustle. The first run of the seventh inning came off of a Hoffman RBI to bring home Magdziasz.

Jensen, with two outs, would rush down the line, sliding into first with two outs to see Graham cross home plate to win the game.
