Lewis Softball End Dome Invitational on a High Note

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The final day of the Lewis Dome Invitational was capped off with a comeback win against Parkside and shutout against Winona State on Sunday (Feb. 23).

GAME 1: Lewis 4, Parkside 2

TEAM RECORDS
Lewis 8-7 | Parkside 5-3

SUMMARY
The Rangers struck first early in the first inning with a two-run home run to give themselves a 2-0 lead.

Lewis would strike back in the bottom of the second to make it a 3-2 game. Magdziasz would single up the middle which brought home Poortenga and Wondrasek. The next play was a Trausch single down the line that would bring home Garden, giving the Flyers a 3-2 lead.

The Flyers would add to their lead in the bottom of the fifth with a Hoffman double to bring home Trausch to make it a 4-2 game. Lewis would hang on for the remainder of the contest, closing out Parkside in the seventh inning with a sliding grab by Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) in center field to end the game.

GAME 2: Lewis 6, Winona State 0

TEAM RECORDS
Lewis 9-7 | Winona State 9-1

SUMMARY
It was a slow start in terms of scoring for game two, but it was a competitive first few innings. First runs came off of the bat of Graham, whose double to center field, would see Garden cross home plate. In the next play, Graham would also reach home off a double off the barrel of Trausch.

Jensen started off the fourth inning scoring with an RBI triple to right-center field to bring home Hoffman. Gomez hit a sacrifice ball to second which would bring home Jensen, making it a 4-0 game in the fourth.

The bottom of the sixth brought some insurance runs into the back pocket of the Flyers. With bases loaded, Graham hammered a ball into left field for two RBI. They would leave runners on, but Garden and fellow defensive members would shut out the Trojans and win their final game at the Dome.
