CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- The Lewis softball team shined in their doubleheader victory over Thomas More University on Friday, February 28 winning both games. The Flyers won the first game 5-4 then were victorious in the second 25-0.
This comes with the Flyers scoring the most runs in a single game in program history! Scoring 25 runs in the second game of the doubleheader.

GAME 1: Lewis 5, Thomas More 4

SUMMARY
Lewis scored first in game one at the top of the first with an RBI triple by
Nicole Magdziasz (Tinley Park, IL/Providence Catholic High School) and later a sacrifice bunt by
Ariana Trausch (Elk Grove Village, IL/Elk Grove High School) to bump the lead to 2-0.
At the bottom of the third, Thomas More rallied back to put three runs on the board with two singles and a base-loaded walk to go up 3-2.
With two outs in the top of the fifth,
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) walked, stole second base, and later came around to score on an error that tied the contest at 3-3 for Lewis. A leadoff triple for Harris in the bottom half of the inning started Thomas More off right as a groundout brought the runner in from third to make the score 4-3.
A two-RBI double by Jensen in the top of the sixth put the Flyers back in the scoring column in the top 5-4. Hessing left the go-ahead run in scoring position in the bottom of the seventh to close out the game for Lewis 5-4.

SUMMARY
The Flyers started game 2 in the top of the first hot with seven total hits and 11 total runs with RBI's from
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School), Trausch,
Katie Jensen (Warrenville, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South),
Anna Frafjord (Sussex, WI/Hamilton High School) and
Erica Hoffman (Hebron, IN/Boone Grove High School) to go up 11-0.
Isabelle Poortenga (Dyer,IN/Lake Central High School) scored after an RBI triple by Magdziasz in the top of the second, adding one more onto the lead for Lewis at 12-0. Nine Flyers came across to score in the top of the third which was highlighted by a grand slam by Trausch. In the top of the fourth, a single by Terry brought in Garden as well as another RBI single by Reed pushed the score to 24-0.
A Poortenga hit by pitch had Terry come around to score which scored run number 25 in the game for the Flyers at 25-0.
Garden (6-3) recorded the win in the circle with her perfect game after finishing with 11 strikeouts with three coming in the bottom of the fifth to close the game out for Lewis.
