PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Lewis women's lacrosse team won its second straight contest as the Flyers defeated the Lake Erie Storm 22-8 Wednesday (Feb. 26).

PERIOD BREAKDOWN
FIRST PERIOD: Lewis 10, Lake Erie 3
Lake Erie scored the opening goal of the contest within 30 seconds of the contest. Lewis responded with back-to-back goals which gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead.
Eliana Cappellini (Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada/Burnaby North Secondary School) found
Heidi Sweeney (New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada/New Westminster) for the goal which tied it. Exactly one minute later, Ameila Procyk recorded a free-position goal to regain a 2-1 lead.
The Storm responded with another goal to tie it at 2-2. Lewis proceeded to score the next two goals to regain a 4-2 lead.
Sweeney found
Catherine Roney (Barrington, Ill./Saint Viator High School) for the score that made it 3-2. Less than a minute later, Procyk found Sweeney for a score that made it 4-2.
Lake Erie scored the next goal which would be its last of the opening period. Lewis went on to score the next six in the first period giving them a 10-3 lead.
Winterlik recorded her first of six goals at the 8:01 mark of the first, giving the Flyers a 5-3 advantage.
Jade McKinnon (Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) extended the lead to 6-3 after scoring her first goal of the contest.
Cappellini found an open Lewis player again this time, passing it into Winterlik for a 7-3 lead. Procyk recorded her second assist of the match after passing it to McKinnon for a score, giving the Flyers a 8-3 advantage.
Lewis' next goal was flipped of the last one as McKinnon assisted it into Procyk for the score making it 9-3. In the closing seconds of the first period, McKinnon found the back of the net for a goal, giving Lewis a 10-3 lead.
SECOND PERIOD: Lewis 6, Lake Erie 1
Lewis continued its momentum from the first and scored the period's first five goals extending their lead to 15-3. Roney recorded the next two goals, one off a free-position attempt and the other off an assist from McKinnon.
Winterlik found the back of the net at the 10:06 mark which gave the Flyers a 13-3 lead. Jimenez recorded her first of three assists after finding Roney for the score.
Jimenez joined in on the goals after striking through a free-position shot which made it 15-3. Lake Erie scored the next goal which turned out to be their lone goal of the period.
Sweeney closed out the second quarter with a goal at 0:23 on the clock giving Lewis a 16-4 advantage.
THIRD PERIOD: Lewis 3, Lake Erie 2
Both teams traded goals in the period including Lewis having the first and final score of the third. Roney found Winterlik in the opening minute to make it 17-4.
Lake Erie proceeded to score the next goal to make it 17-5. Roney recorded her second straight assist, this time finding McKinnon for the goal which made it 18-5.
The Storm scored the following goal with 3 minutes left in the period. Winterlik scored the final goal of the third with 30 seconds left, giving Lewis a 19-6 advantage.
FOURTH PERIOD: Lewis 3, Lake Erie 2
Lewis scored the first two goals of the fourth period, which gave the Flyers a 21-6 lead. Jimenez was able to find Procyk and Winterlik for her second and third assists.
Lake Erie scored the next two goals which would be their final pair of the contest. The Flyers had the final goal of the game after
Georgia Kodytek (White Bear Lake, Minn/White Bear Lake South) found the back of the net with 17 seconds to go to make it 22-8.
FINAL SCORE: Lewis 22, Lake Erie 8
