ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis men's basketball won its home finale at Neil Carey Arena, defeating Quincy 83-71 Thursday (Feb. 27). The Flyers have officially clinched a spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, which is set to take place March 6-9.

GAME SUMMARY
Lewis recorded back-to-back baskets to start the contest. Quincy responded with two straight three-pointers.
Warden knocked down a triple to regain the lead before the Hawks scored back-to-back baskets. Quincy went up 15-10 before the Flyers went on to a run, scoring 12 straight points the next five minutes for a 22-15 lead.
Renfro hit two consecutive layups giving Lewis a 29-21 lead at the 5:10 mark. Moments later, Stroud knocked down a jumper off a pass from Sayles Jr. extending Lewis' advantage to 34-26 with 2:18 in the half.
Quincy then scored eight unanswered points to tie the contest at 34-34.
Devon Vanderheydt (Washington, Ill./Washington) hit a three-pointer in the closing minutes of the half, giving the Flyers 37-34 lead at the break.
The Hawks started in the second half with a basket. Lewis responded with five straight points including an and-one from Stroud making it 42-36.
It was tied 44-44 as both teams traded baskets until it reached 58-58. Kirciman and Stroud hit back-to-back layups, giving the Flyers a 64-59 advantage with 7:40 to play.
Quincy scored the next basket before Vanderheydt hit a three-pointer and Warden made a layup extending the lead to 69-61 with under five minutes to play.
The Hawks tried to rally, closing the gap to 70-66 in favor of the Flyers. Lewis got back on track after scoring four straight points to essentially put the contest away.
Vanderheydt hit a crucial three-pointer with 39 seconds left to put Lewis ahead 81-68. The Flyers went on to win 83-71.

Lewis will be back in action for its regular season finale on the road at Upper Iowa Saturday, March 1 as the Flyers take on the Peacocks starting at 3 p.m. CT.
