CRESTWOOD, Ill. -- The Lewis University baseball team traveled to Ozinga Field in Crestwood, home of the Windy City Thunderbolts, with their own spark of offense in a doubleheader against Upper Iowa. The Flyers won the first game 10-8 then were victorious in the second game 14-3.
GAME 1: Lewis 10, Upper Iowa 8

SUMMARY
Upper Iowa got off to a hearty lead in the first inning with 3 run home run to immediately put the Flyers down. They would add another run on the fourth to make it a 4-0 game.
The Peacocks would add a grand slam to the scoreboard making it an 8-1 ball game.
Lewis would have a tremendous fifth inning which started with a
Chris Daugherty (Chicago, Ill/Brother Rice) double to right center field which brought Nelson home.
Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) hit a 2 RBI single to cut it to an 8-4 Flyer deficit.
Krol would then step up with another two-RBI single to right field to make it an 8-6 game.
Jackson Hunley (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) would then triple to send Krol and Bilecki home to make it a tie game.
Cole Nelson (St. Charles, Ill/Lenoir Rhyne) would finish the fifth inning party with a two run homer to left field, to make it a 10-8 game,
Lewis would close out the rest of the game and win the first game.
GAME 2: Lewis 14, Upper Iowa 3

SUMMARY
Once again, the Peacocks would be the first to the scoreboard with two runs in the first inning.
The Flyers would draft a response in the second with an RBI ground out from Hunley to make it a 2-1 game.
Lewis would not score again until the fifth inning, when an RBI double from Nelson would tie the game. Nelson then scored on a wild pitch to give the Flyers a 3-2 lead.
Headrick would rip a two-run double in the fifth inning, making it a 5-2 game.
The Peacocks would put a run on the board with an RBI ground out to start the sixth. Kocen ripped a triple to left field which would clear the bases giving Lewis an 8-3 lead.
The seventh was highlighted by RBIs from Krol, Daugherty,
Tyler Phommachanhom (Plainfield, Ill/Parkland CC) and Kocen with doubles, ground outs and a fielder's choice to give Lewis a 12-3 lead.
The Flyers would invoke the mercy rule with a two-run walk-off home run from Bilecki to end the game in the bottom of the seventh.

Lewis will play one more doubleheader against Upper Iowa on Sunday, March 2nd starting at 12 p.m. at Ozinga Field.
