HONOLULU -- The Lewis University softball team started its 2025 season in Hawaii for a pair of contests as the Flyers defeated Hillsdale 7-6 in eight innings then won against Ferris State 8-1 Monday (Feb. 4)

SUMMARY
Lewis grabbed an early 1-0 lead after
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School) singled through the left side, which scored
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) from third.
Hillsdale responded and tied it at 1-1 in the top of the third. The Flyers bounced back and scored two in the fourth and two in the sixth to grab a 5-1 advantage.
Nicole Magdziasz (Tinley Park, IL/Providence Catholic High School) hit a two-run double to left center to score
Ariana Trausch (Elk Grove Village, IL/Elk Grove High School) and
Grace Kmak (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central High School) to make it 3-1. Trausch extended it out to 4-1 after a double of her own to center scored Kmak.
Garden made it 5-1 after a suicide squeeze bunt scored Trausch from third.
The Chargers rallied in the seventh inning after scoring four times in the frame to tie it at 5-5 to force extra frames.
Hillsdale scored an unearned run in the top of the eighth to take a 6-5 lead. Lewis rallied in the eighth inning after Trausch scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-6.
Anna Frafjord (Sussex, WI/Hamilton High School) walked it off for the Flyers after ripping an RBI single to left center, scoring Magdziasz from third to win it 7-6.
Garden picked up the win (1-0) with a complete game after allowing six runs (five earned) over 10 hits, walking two and striking out six.
GAME 2: Lewis 8, Ferris State 1

SUMMARY
Lewis jumped out with a three-spot in the opening inning. Garden and Magdziasz started the frame with singles, then Graham ripped a two-run double to right, which scored them both to make it 2-0, then Frafjord brought home Graham with an RBI single which extended it out to 3-0.
Ferris State got one back in the top of the third inning to make it 3-1 Flyers.
The Flyers put up a four spot in the fourth inning to extend their lead out to 7-1. Garden singled to left center, scoring
Allie Wondrasek (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way West High School) from second to make it 4-1.
Magdziasz extended the lead out to 6-1 after hitting a two-run double to left, scoring Garden and Kmak. Frafjord made it 7-1 after hitting an RBI groundout, which scored Magdziasz.
Kmak gave Lewis an 8-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI groundout which scored Trausch.
Wondrasek (1-0) picked up the victory in the circle after going all seven innings, allowing one run, giving up six hits, issuing one walk and striking out seven.

Lewis will stay in Hawaii Tuesday, February 4 as the Flyers take on Hillsdale at 3 p.m. then Cal. Poly Humboldt at 5 p.m. CT.
