ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University women's lacrosse team opened its 2025 season with a 12-8 loss against Concordia-St. Paul Sunday (Feb. 9).

GAME SUMMARY
FIRST QUARTER: Lewis 3, Concordia-St. Paul 1
Winterlik started the scoring in the contest and made it 1-0 in the opening two minutes. Concordia-St. Paul tied it with the next goal which made it 1-1.
The Flyers closed out the quarter with the final two goals which allowed them to lead 3-1. Roney and
Heidi Sweeney (New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada/New Westminster) each tallied goals to extend it to 3-1.
SECOND QUARTER: Concordia-St. Paul 6, Lewis 2
The Golden Bears started the second with four unanswered to grab a 5-3 lead.
Amelia Procyk (Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) got one back for the Flyers to cut it down to 5-4.
CSP went on to score three in a row to make it 8-4.
Eliana Cappellini (Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada/Burnaby North Secondary School) closed out the first half with a goal which made it 8-5 going into the break.
THIRD QUARTER: Concordia-St. Paul 2, Lewis 1
Concordia-St. Paul scored the opening goal of the second half extending its lead to 9-5. Roney tacked on her second goal of the contest to make it a three-goal game at 9-6.
CSP scored the final goal of the third which gave the Golden Bears a 10-6 advantage.
FOURTH QUARTER: Concordia-St. Paul 2, Lewis 2
The Golden Bears started the scoring in the fourth with a goal making it 11-6 lead. Lewis went on to score the next two goals to make it 11-8.
Jade McKinnon (Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) found the back of the net for her first goal of the contest then Winterlik added her second of the contest. CSP scored the final goal of the game with the Golden Bears leading 12-8 and that score would hold until the end of the game.
FINAL SCORE: Concordia-St. Paul 12, Lewis 8
