#11 Lewis Men's Lacrosse Wins Fifth Straight Contest; Defeats Northwood Tuesday

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The No. 11 Lewis University men's lacrosse team defeated Northwood 20-7 at Lewis Stadium Tuesday (March 11).

GAME SUMMARY
FIRST QUARTER: Lewis 5, Northwood 2
Northwood started the contest's opening goal for an early 1-0 lead. Lewis responded with five unanswered, giving the Flyers a 5-1 advantage. 
 
Kendrick scored the first Lewis goal after receiving the ball from Good. Good was able to find the game's top scorer, Ruskoski, for the score, giving Lewis a 2-1 lead. 
 
Good scored his own goal after assisting on the other two after receiving the ball from Ty DeSplinter (Fishers, Indiana/Hamilton Southeastern HS), making it 3-1. 50 seconds later, Kevin Blaz (McHenry, Illinois/Marian Central Catholic HS) found Lance McCann (Elmhurst,Illinois/York Community HS), who found the back of the cage, giving Lewis a 4-1 lead.
 
43 seconds passed by and Dominic Bravata (Portage, Michigan/Portage Northern HS) found Luke Schroeder (Plymouth, Minnesota/Totino-Grace HS) for the score, extending the Lewis lead out to 5-1. The Timberwolves got a goal back to cut into the deficit, taking advantage of being a man up, making it 5-2 Lewis.
 
SECOND QUARTER: Lewis 7, Northwood 2
Lewis began the second quarter with the first pair of goals in the opening 62 seconds of the period. Ruskoski found the back of the net after receiving a pass from Schroeder. 
 
Good recorded another score after Ruskoski threw the ball to him at the 13:58 mark, making it 7-2 Flyers. Northwood scored its third goal of the match with 12:43 remaining before halftime, cutting the score to 7-3. 
 
Lewis got the goal right back after Nolan Dalep (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada/Claremont Secondary School) found Hayes for the score, making it a 8-3 contest. Northwood scored the next goal after taking advantage of the man-up chance.
 
The Flyers scored four straight goals to close out the first half, giving Lewis a 12-4 lead at the break. McCann scored his second of the game after Good found him with an opening.
 
The next three goals for the Flyers came with under a minute left on the clock. Ruskoski was able to find the open man on the next two goals for the assists first one was for Hayes and then Good.
 
In the last seconds of the first half, Hayes found Michael Metheny (Fishers, Indiana/Hamilton Southeastern HS), who then found the back of the cage for the goal. Lewis led 12-4 at halftime.
 
THIRD QUARTER: Lewis 2, Northwood 2
Lewis scored the opening goal of the second half after Good found Ruskoski during a man-up, making it 13-4 Flyers. Northwood scored the next goal a little over a minute later. 
 
Domenic Tarello (Libertyville, Illinois/Libertyville HS) got on the scoring column, extending Lewis' lead out to 14-5. The Timberwolves scored the final goal of the third quarter, cutting the deficit down to 14-6.

FOURTH QUARTER: Lewis 6, Northwood 1
Lewis scored the first five goals of the fourth quarter, extending their lead to 19-6. Good scored his fourth goal of the contest off a pass from Hayes. 
 
Hayes found the back of the cage for a hat trick during the next goal, assisted by Blaz. Fritz Whalen (Buford, Georgia/Buford High School) passed it to Ruskoski for the next goal, making it 17-6. 
 
43 seconds later, Schroeder took it himself for the score with a goal. Zach Buddelmeyer (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro HS) got on the stat sheet with the pass to Ruskoski for his fifth goal of the contest giving Lewis a 19-6 advantage.
 
Northwood scored the next goal 31 seconds later to cut into the deficit at 19-7. Lewis scored the final goal of the contest after Buddelmeyer found the back of the cage, making it 20-7 and that score would hold with Lewis coming out on top.

FINAL SCORE: Lewis 20, Northwood 7
