#14 Lewis Men’s Volleyball Falls to Lindenwood Thursday

ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- The No. 14 Lewis University men's volleyball team took on Lindenwood Thursday (March 13) and lost 3-1 in Hyland Arena.

SET BREAKDOWN
SET 1: Lindenwood 26, Lewis 24
Lindenwood led 6-5 early in the first set before scoring four straight, giving the Lions a 10-5 lead. Lewis recovered in the set by scoring the next five out of six points, capped by a block from Frederick Krueger-Beer (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa East) and Haber to make it 11-10 Lindenwood. 
 
Moments later, the Flyers tied the game after a block from Haber made it 18-18. Lewis forced set point after Roquet secured the kill, giving the Flyers a 24-23 advantage. 
 
The Lions scored three in a row to win the set 26-24.
 
SET 2: Lindenwood 25, Lewis 21
Lindenwood picked up where they left off as the Lions scored the first three points to start the second set. Lewis scored the next five out of seven to tie it 5-5.

Both teams each scored a point before Lindenwood scored four straight, giving the Lions a 10-6 lead. Lewis attempted to come back in the set after a kill from Todorov made it a one-point game.
 
The Lions scored the next five out of six, giving them a 18-13 advantage. Lewis crawled back one last time with three straight points including kills from Krueger-Beer and Oguz to make it 20-18 in favor of Lindenwood. 
 
Lindenwood won the second set 25-21, giving them a 2-0 set advantage. 
 
SET 3: Lewis 25, Lindenwood 19
Both teams went back-and-forth to begin the third set with the score tied 10-10. Lindenwood scored the next two points before Lewis recorded three straight with back-to-back kills from Krueger-Beer and Oguz. 
 
Lindenwood tied the set at 17-17 later on in the game. Lewis then scored three straight points off a kill and service ace by Todorov and followed by a kill from Roquet. 
 
It was cut down to 21-19 Lewis but that was the closest it would be. The Flyers scored the last four points of the third set, securing a 25-19 game victory. 
 
SET 4: Lindenwood 25, Lewis 15
Lewis jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the fourth set looking to force a fifth. Lindenwood scored four in a row, giving the Lions a 5-3 lead. 
 
The Flyers made it a one-point game after a kill from Roquet. The set swung back over to the Lions after Lindenwood scored nine out the next 11 points for a 19-11 lead. 
 
The Lions went on to win the fourth set 25-15 then won the match 3-1.
 
FINAL SCORE: Lindenwood 3, Lewis 1
