GAME SUMMARY
FIRST QUARTER: Lewis 3, Northern Michigan 3
After having the advantage, Northern Michigan scored the contest's opening goal, putting the Wildcats ahead 1-0. Lewis responded less than a minute after Winterlik found Roney for the score, tying it at 1-1.
The Wildcats scored the next goal at the 9:45 mark, regaining the lead for NMU for a 2-1 advantage. Roney scored her second straight goal to tie the contest at 2-2.
Roney found
Ravyn Jimenez (Navarre, FL/Navarre High School) as the Flyers grabbed its first lead of the match at 3-2 with 5:42 to play in the first. The Wildcats tied the match for the last goal of the opening period with both teams knotted at 3-3.
SECOND QUARTER: Northern Michigan 7, Lewis 4
Northern Michigan took a 4-3 lead to start the second quarter after opening the period with a goal. Winterlik responded with a goal of her own to tie the contest again at 4-4.
The Wildcats scored the next goal less than 60 seconds later for a 5-4 advantage. Winterlik found Cappellini for the next goal tying the contest at 5-5.
NMU responded quickly with a goal to regain a 6-5 lead. McKinnon was able to feed it to
Heidi Sweeney (New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada/New Westminster) five seconds later for the goal, making it tied again at 6-6.
The Wildcats scored back-to-back goals for a 8-6 lead, their biggest advantage of the game. Cappellini scored the next goal for her second of the game to make it a one-score match again.
Northern Michigan closed out the period with back-to-back goals in the span of a couple of minutes, giving the Wildcats a 10-7 lead at halftime.
THIRD QUARTER: Northern Michigan 7, Lewis 1
FOURTH QUARTER: Northern Michigan 3, Lewis 1
FINAL SCORE: Northern Michigan 20, Lewis 9
