Indianapolis. Ind. -- The Lewis University men's and women's swimming teams were in Indianapolis for the NCAA DII National Championships from Tuesday, March 11-Saturday, March 15. The swimmers representing Lewis at the NCAA DII National Championships was
Larissa Bueno Alves (Brazil, Panama/Colegio De La Salle) on the women's side. For the men's team,
Mahmoud Abdelkarim (Cairo, Egypt/Modern English School Cairo),
Valentin De Frutos (Santafe, Argentina/Colegio de Traductores de la Provincia de Santa Fe),
Matt Howard (Tamarin, Mauritius/Westcoast International),
Nico Jacinto (Caloocan, Philippines/Texas A&M University),
Juan Jose Castro (Cali, Colombia/Corporacion Cultural Colegio Aleman),
River Streefland (Nootdorp, Netherlands/Lycecum Ypenburg),
Tom Thalau (Stuttgart, Germany/Wirtemberg-Gymnasium), and
Davidson Vincent (Thomonde, Haiti/Westlake Preparatory School) were all there.
The Flyers trip to Indianapolis was one for the record books, literally. The Flyers broke nine school records at meet and received 28 All-American honors which is the most in school history. The men's relay team set a new school record in every event at the National Championships.
