ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The No. 10 Lewis University men's lacrosse team won its seven straight contest as the Flyers defeated Quincy 18-4 to open Great Lakes Valley Conference play Tuesday (March 18).

GAME SUMMARY
FIRST QUARTER: Lewis 4, Quincy 0
Lewis scored the first four goals and the only ones in the opening quarter.
Xan Hayes (Leonardtown, Maryland/Leonardtown HS) opened up the scoring with his goal, making it 1-0.
Paul Ruskoski (Tulsa, Oklahoma/Bishop Kelley HS) scored the next two goals for the Flyers, giving Lewis a 3-0 advantage. His first goal came 13 seconds later off a pass from Kendrick after obtaining the ground ball from the face-off.
Three-time reigning GLVC Offensive Player of the Week
Malikye Good (Windsor, Ontario, Canada/St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic HS) appeared on the stat sheet after assisting Ruskoski for the score. Good made it 4-0 after receiving the pass from
Kevin Blaz (McHenry, Illinois/Marian Central Catholic HS).
SECOND QUARTER: Lewis 5, Quincy 2
Lewis started the scoring with the first pair of goals in the second quarter, extending the Flyers lead to 6-0.
Logan Suchy (Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota/Simley HS) took the ball himself and found the back of the cage, making it 5-0 Lewis.
Ruskoski recorded another point in the stat sheet after setting up Good for the score, giving Lewis a 6-0 advantage. Quincy got on the scoreboard after scoring with 7:08 to go in the half.
Lewis scored the next three goals of the contest, giving the Flyers a 9-1 advantage.
Luke Schroeder (Plymouth, Minnesota/Totino-Grace HS) found
Camden Rappis (Delafield, Wisconsin/Kettle Moraine HS) with 4:08 to play in the first, extending the Lewis lead to 7-1.
Nolan Dalep (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada/Claremont Secondary School) found Ruskoski for an opening to score, giving Lewis a 8-1 lead. Seven seconds later, Ruskoski found
Xan Hayes (Leonardtown, Maryland/Leonardtown HS) for the score, making it 9-1.
Quincy closed out half with a goal at the 1:09 mark in the second quarter.
THIRD QUARTER: Lewis 5, Quincy 1
Lewis scored the first three goals of the second half, as Schroeder and
Jackson Marindin (White Hall, Maryland/The John Carroll School) took the initiative to score.
Lance McCann (Elmhurst,Illinois/York Community HS) found Good for the goal, extending the Flyers' lead.
Quincy scored the next goal, which was their only score of the quarter with 1:00 remaining cutting the deficit down to 12-3. Lewis responded immediately with the next goal; after winning the face-off Hayes picked up the ground ball and passed it inside to Good for the score, making it 13-3.
In the closing seconds of the third, Davis circulated it inside to Ruskoski for a goal, giving Lewis a 14-3 advantage at the end of three.
FOURTH QUARTER: Lewis 4, Quincy 1
Ruskoski netted the next goal to start the final period, extending the lead to 15-3. Quincy scored its last goal of the game with 12:02 remaining, making it 15-4 Lewis.
The Flyers scored the last three goals of the match in the final 11:07 to play.
Zach Buddelmeyer (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro HS) logged a point after receiving the ball from
Josh Krolik (Plainfield, Illinois/St. Rita of Cascia HS) for the score.
37 seconds later,
Nick Sheedy (Rosemount, Minnesota/Rosemount HS) threw the ball into Marindin, who found the back of the net for the goal, giving Lewis a 17-4 advantage. Buddelmeyer capped the scoring after
Fritz Whalen (Buford, Georgia/Buford High School) passed it inside to him for the goal, making it 18-4.
FINAL SCORE: Lewis 18, Quincy 4
