#10 Lewis Men’s Lacrosse Wins Eighth Straight; Defeats UAH Saturday

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University men's lacrosse team won its eighth straight contest as the Flyers defeated Alabama-Huntsville 20-5 at Lewis Stadium Saturday (March 22).

GAME SUMMARY
FIRST QUARTER: Lewis 5, Alabama-Huntsville 2
Lewis scored the first pair of goals to start the contest. Ruskoski initiated the scoring after receiving the pass from Kevin Blaz (McHenry, Illinois/Marian Central Catholic HS), making it 1-0 early. 
 
Good extended the lead to 2-0 after Lance McCann (Elmhurst,Illinois/York Community HS) found him for the score at the 11:14 mark in the first quarter. Alabama-Huntsville got on the board after having a player advantage, making it 2-1. 
 
Lewis scored the next goal with the advantage after Good found Ruskoski, making it 3-1. The Chargers scored the subsequent goal, cutting it down to 3-2. 
 
The Flyers scored the final pair of goals to end the opening quarter. Collier and Ruskoski both took the ball themselves for the scores, making it 5-2. 
 
SECOND QUARTER: Lewis 4, Alabama-Huntsville 1
Lewis scored three straight goals to start the second, making it five unanswered for the Flyers. Good passed it inside to Ruskoski in the opening minute of the second quarter extending it to 6-2. 
 
Nolan Dalep (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada/Claremont Secondary School) entered the stat sheet after finding an opening in the defense and hitting the back of the net, making it 7-2 Lewis. Collier also took it himself for the following goal, giving Lewis a 8-2 lead. 
 
Alabama-Huntsville got back on the scoring side after having a man-up with 1:26 to play in the half, cutting it down to 8-3. Xan Hayes (Leonardtown, Maryland/Leonardtown HS) found McCann with 23 seconds remaining in the half for another Lewis goal, making it 9-3. 
 
 
 
THIRD QUARTER: Lewis 5, Alabama-Huntsville 0
Lewis scored the only five goals in the third quarter, giving them a 14-3 lead after three. Michael Metheny (Fishers, Indiana/Hamilton Southeastern HS) found Ruskoski in the opening 90 seconds of the period, making it 10-3. 
 
The Flyers were able to record the next goal after Hayes found Good while being a man-down for the score, taking a 11-3 lead. Tarello took the following face-off and passed it inside to Hayes, as the Flyers were still a man-down and Lewis found the back of the cage for a 12-3 advantage.
 
Blaz took it himself for the next goal with 2:42 remaining in the third, extending it to 14-3. Wyatt Hoetker (Simpsonville, Kentucky/Christian Academy of Louisville) recorded his first point of the contest with 37 seconds left, making it 15-3 in favor of the Flyers. 

FOURTH QUARTER: Lewis 6, Alabama-Huntsville 2
Lewis continued its run and scored the first three goals, bringing their total to nine unanswered goals, extending the Flyers lead to 17-3. Dalep found Good in the opening 34 seconds of the period for the score. 
 
Max Anderson (Prior Lake, Minnesota/Prior Lake HS) scored his first goal of the season after taking it himself for the score at the 13:34 mark in the fourth. Ruskoski found another opening, this time it was AJ Baumley (Huntley, Illinois/Huntley HS) for the goal.
 
Alabama-Huntsville scored the next goal to end its scoreless drought, cutting it down to 17-4. Lewis proceeded to score the next pair of goals after Nick Sheedy (Rosemount, Minnesota/Rosemount HS) and Camden Rappis (Delafield, Wisconsin/Kettle Moraine HS) took it themselves within one minute of each other, giving Lewis a 19-4 lead. 
 
The Chargers scored their final goal with 3:30 remaining in the game, and Lewis was still ahead 19-5. The Flyers scored in the closing seconds of the contest after Fritz Whalen (Buford, Georgia/Buford High School) found Sheedy for the final goal of the game, making it 20-5. 

FINAL SCORE: Lewis 20, Alabama-Huntsville 5
