JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Lewis University baseball team extended its current winning streak to eight games after winning a doubleheader Friday, March 21, at Lincoln University of Missouri. The Flyers won the first game 13-3 then captured the second 6-4.

SUMMARY
The Flyers began the top of the first inning by scoring three runs with RBI singles by
Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) and
Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) while a walk by
Cole Nelson (St. Charles, Ill/Lenoir Rhyne) drove in final run to go up 3-0. After starting pitcher
Dylan Wolff (Joliet, Ill.) recorded back-to-back strikeouts to end the bottom of the first,
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) and
Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) both scored for the Flyers on an error, extending the lead to 5-0 in the top of the second.
Lewis was not finished adding in the top of the third inning either as
Tyler Phommachanhom (Plainfield, Ill/Parkland CC) singled through the left side for an RBI while
Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill./UNC-Pembroke) contributed a sacrifice fly later in the inning to make it 7-0. The Flyers generated six runs on four hits in the top of the fourth inning to go up 13-0 while Wolff navigated his way out of a jam in the bottom half, stranding three on base.
The Blue Tigers managed to get on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning with an RBI single by Padron and a groundout by Lepper to push across two runs to make the score 13-2. Lewis surrendered an RBI triple to Ollison in the bottom of the seventh inning, but pitcher
Daniel Rosado (Burbank, Ill.) closed out the game for Lewis, concluding the first contest at a final 13-2 score.
GAME 2: Lewis 6, Lincoln (MO) 4 (7 innings)

SUMMARY
After a quiet first inning for both teams in the second game of the doubleheader,
John Henry Russell (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) got Lewis started with a one-out double down the left field line,
Chris Daugherty (Chicago, Ill/Brother Rice) advanced to second base on a Lincoln error and the second error allowed Russell to come around and score to give Lewis the lead at 1-0.
Lincoln responded in the bottom half of the second inning with an RBI groundout by Figueroa, tying the game at 1-1. In the bottom of the fourth, Figueroa stole second base for the Blue Tigers and later came around to score on an RBI single by Lepper to go up 2-1.
Phommachanhom sparked the Flyers in the top half of the fifth inning with a one out single and came around to tie the game at 2-2 after an RBI double by McDevitt. This was followed up by another RBI double by Kocen and later an RBI single by Krol after Kocen stole third base.
Both teams resumed in the seventh inning after a leadoff double by McDevitt and RBI triple by Kocen added a run to the Flyers column making the score 5-2. Kocen scored on a sacrifice fly by Krol adding a second run to make it 6-2.
Lincoln picked up two runs and a hit in the bottom of the seventh.
Collin Amsden (Oak Forest, Ill./Marist) entered to earn his second save of the season ending the game for Lewis at 6-4.
