ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University baseball team claimed another two conference wins with the day sweep of UMSL on Friday (March 28).
GAME 1: Lewis 10, UMSL 4

SUMMARY
Lewis from the start was playing from behind with UMSL getting three straight hits to drive a run home early. The Flyers quickly followed suit with a leadoff double by McDevitt and another double by Kocen to drive him home. The Flyers' second inning was just as big as the first featuring a Nelson homerun, a Phommachanhom home run and a Kocen two run home run to make it a 5-1 game.
The Tritons would add another run to the board with a homerun to make it 5-2 in the fourth. McDevitt would also homer in the fourth, bringing that one additional run back to the Lewis lead. McDevitt would score again in the sixth off of a Krol RBI double.
Last last scoring for either team came in the eighth. For UMSL it was a two-run home run to make it a 7-4 game. For the Flyers it was a Krol single that once again scored McDevitt. Lastly, a Headrick single sent both Kocen and Krol home to create a final score of 10-4.
GAME 2: Lewis 10, UMSL 2 (7 innings)

SUMMARY
Starting early once again, the Flyers took a 1-0 lead in the first with a Kocen RBI single to score McDevitt. In the third with Kocen on third and Krol on second, a balk would drive home another run for the Flyers. Krol would follow Kocen home on a home run from Headrick. The Tritons added a run off a homer in the top of the fourth only for the Flyers to add a home run in the bottom of the fourth off the bat of Nelson.
The Flyers added more runs in the sixth after loading the bases. Krol was hit by a pitch to send Phommachanhom home. An error by the UMSL shortstop on a ball put in play by Headrick scored McDevitt followed by a walk by O'Brien to sent home Kocen. Lastly in the sixth, Hunley doubled to centerfield to score Headrick and Krol to make it a 10-1 game.
The Tritons put up one more run in the seventh, but that concluded scoring for the doubleheader, giving Lewis another win with the 10-2 score.
