ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Lewis University softball team swept both games of a doubleheader against Purdue Northwest at the Rosemont Dome Wednesday (March 5). The Flyers won the first game 12-4 then took the second 6-0.
GAME 1: Lewis 12, Purdue Northwest 4 (6 innings)

SUMMARY
Lewis put up an eight spot in the opening inning for an early 8-0 lead.
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School) made it 1-0 after hitting a suicide squeeze, scoring
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School).
Ariana Trausch (Elk Grove Village, IL/Elk Grove High School) made it 2-0 after ripping an RBI triple to right field, scoring Graham.
Erica Hoffman (Hebron, IN/Boone Grove High School) kept the inning alive after hitting a single right back to the mound, scoring Trausch, making it 3-0 Lewis.
Kadance Baccam gave the Flyers a 4-0 advantage after her single drove home Hoffman. Garden drew a bases-loaded walk, making it 5-0 Lewis.
Nicole Magdziasz (Tinley Park, IL/Providence Catholic High School) singled to left which scored Baccam but then a miscue by PNW's left fielder allowed
Isabelle Poortenga (Dyer,IN/Lake Central High School) and Garden to cross home plate to extend the lead to 8-0.
Both teams did not score in the second and third frames to keep it 8-0. Lewis added another run in the fourth after Baccam drove home Hoffman with another RBI single, making it 9-0.
Purdue Northwest got four runs back in the fifth to make it a 9-4 contest. Lewis was able to essentially walk off in the bottom of the sixth after putting up a three-spot in the frame to win it 12-4 via run-rule.
Katie Jensen (Warrenville, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South) started the scoring in the sixth after RBI double scored Trausch. The next batter, Baccam recorded her fourth hit of the game after another RBI single drove home Jensen, making it 11-4.
Poortenga gave Lewis the victory after singling home Baccam. The Flyers won the contest 12-4.
GAME 2: Lewis 6, Purdue Northwest 0

SUMMARY
It was a pitcher's duel until the sixth inning as both teams were held off the scoreboard for the first five innings of the contest.
Lewis put up a six-spot in the sixth inning, which essentially put the game away. Garden started off the inning with a double, and then back-to-back walks drawn by Magdziasz and Graham loaded the bases with no outs in the frame.
Anna Frafjord (Sussex, WI/Hamilton High School) came up with the go-ahead hit with a two-run double to center, scoring Magdziasz and Garden, making it 2-0. Jensen added to the Flyers' advantage with a two-run double to left-center, scoring Frafjord and Graham.
Poortenga added a pair of insurance runs for the Flyers with her two-run double down the left field line scoring Jensen and Trausch giving Lewis a 6-0 lead. Lewis recorded a 1-2-3 seventh inning to close out the second game for the 6-0 victory.
Allie Wondrasek (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way West High School) (6-3) picked up the victory after her complete game shutout in the circle. The junior tossed all seven innings, allowing only three hits, walking three and striking out three.
