ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University baseball team defeated Roosevelt 8-4 at Brennan Field Tuesday (April 1).

SUMMARY
Lewis jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the Flyers scored two runs in the opening inning.
Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) drove home
Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill./UNC-Pembroke) with an RBI single.
Krol came around and to score on a wild pitch, making it 2-0 Lewis. Both teams were scoreless in the second inning, keeping it at 2-0 Flyers.
Roosevelt got one run back in the top of the third, cutting their deficit to 2-1. The Lakers loaded the bases in the same frame but could not bring across another run.
Roosevelt loaded the bases again the fourth but Lewis starter
Jackson Kottmeyer (Aurora, Ill/Kaneland) escaped the bases-loaded jam.
Lewis loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth.
Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) extended the Flyers lead to 3-1 after hitting an RBI groundout to second, scoring
Jackson Hunley (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie).
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) made it 5-1 after smashing a two-run double to right center, scoring
Cole Nelson (St. Charles, Ill/Lenoir Rhyne) and
Tyler Phommachanhom (Plainfield, Ill/Parkland CC).
Kocen scored on a wild pitch, making it 6-1 in favor of the Flyers. Krol gave Lewis a 7-1 lead after hitting a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Bilecki from third.
Daniel Rosado (Burbank, Ill.) came in to pitch the fifth inning and threw a scoreless frame.
Seth Nanna (Carmel, Ind/Westfield) pitched out of a jam in the sixth frame.
Lewis added another run in the bottom of the seventh inning, making it 8-1 after Hunley drove home Krol with an RBI single to center.
Roosevelt got three runs back in the top of the eighth inning with a three-run home run, making it 8-4 Lewis.
Colin Amsden threw a scoreless ninth inning, ending the game with the Flyers winning 8-4.

Jackson Kottmeyer (Aurora, Ill/Kaneland) (1-0) recorded the win on the mound after throwing four innings, allowing seven hits, one run, issuing one walk and striking out three.
