Lewis 26-8, 15-3 GLVC | Quincy 16-19, 9-9 GLVC

GAME 1: Lewis 4, Quincy 3

SUMMARY
The first of two games on Saturday began as a pitching duel with Luke Carlson (Granville, Ill./Putnam County) fending off the Hawks for the Flyers. Eventually the Hawks broke through with a three run home run against Carlson taking the first lead of the day.

Trailing once again in the series, the Flyers dug deep to respond in the bottom of the fifth. Chris Daugherty (Chicago, Ill/Brother Rice) and Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) walked to put two men on base. In the box then came Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill./UNC-Pembroke), trailing by three, Kocen hammered a ball to deep right field for a three run home run to tie the game.

Carter Endisch (Pewaukee, Wis.) took the game over in the top of the sixth, allowing no runs during his three outs on the mound. The bottom of the sixth saw Will Bruno (Upton, MA/UNC Pembroke) coming in as a designated pinch hitter and hitting a SAC Fly out to right to bring home Jackson Hunley (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) and take the 4-3 lead.

Jackson Bruno (Chicago, Ill./Notre Dame Prep), with the bases loaded closed out the game and secure the comeback win for Lewis.

IN BETWEEN GAMES
Lewis honored the 1974, 1975 and 1976 Championship Teams in between the two contests, paying homage to the men who helped build the foundation of success for Lewis Baseball.

GAME 2: Lewis 10, Quincy 3

SUMMARY
Brendan Lawry (Bolingbrook, Ill./Eckerd College) started on the mound for the second game. He pitched four scoreless innings and gave up a total of five hits total with the runs in his fifth an final inning.

The first two runs of the game were rather anticlimactic with both of them coming in due to walks with the bases loaded. George Bilicki had a SAC Fly to bring another runner across, and Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) with a 2 RBI single would cap off the inning making the score 5-0.

With a 5-2 score in the bottom of the fifth Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) launched a two run home run out to right field on a frozen rope. Hunley would come around to score on an error from a ball put in play by Tyler Phommachanhom (Plainfield, Ill/Parkland CC)

Kocen hit another home run in the bottom of the sixth, this time a solo shot. Later in the inning Bilecki scored on a SAC grounder to short by Headrick. The Flyers gave up one more run in the top of the seventh, but ulimately the game ended 10-3.

UP NEXT
The Flyers host Quincy one more time tomorrow on April 13th, at 12:00 p.m. for a full nine inning game.
