LEBANON, Ill. – The Lewis University women's lacrosse team rallied to beat McKendree 18-17 in overtime Sunday (April 13) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match.
Jade McKinnon (Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) scored the final three goals of the match, including the overtime winner.

SUMMARY
FIRST QUARTER: McKendree 2, Lewis 1
McKendree opened the scoring five minutes into the game. Lewis tied the score on a Winterlik goal with 2:34 left in the quarter. The Bearcats scored with 34 seconds left to lead 2-1 after one quarter.
SECOND QUARTER: McKendree 8, Lewis 5
The Bearcats scored the first three goals of the quarter to take a 5-1 lead. Cappellini ended the run with a goal with 8:56 left in the half. The teams traded goals with Winterlik scoring for the Flyers to make it 6-3.
McKendree scored back-to-back goals to make it 8-3 with 6:48 left in the half. Lewis then scored on a McKinnon goal to make it 8-4. Cappellini and Sweeney added goals late in the half as the Flyers went into the half trailing 10-6.
THIRD QUARTER: Lewis 6, McKendree 4
Sweeney started off the scoring in the second half with a goal 39 seconds in to make it 10-7. McKendree answered with a pair of goals to make it 12-7.
For the first time in the game Lewis scored three straight goals as
Georgia Kodytek (White Bear Lake, Minn/White Bear Lake South),
Catherine Roney (Barrington, Ill./Saint Viator High School) and Procyk made it 12-10 with 2:49 remaining. Two more Bearcat goals made it 14-10, but the Flyers responded with two goals in the final 35 seconds from McKinnon and Cappellini to make it 14-12 after three quarters.
FOURTH QUARTER: Lewis 5, McKendree 3
McKinnon kept the momentum going with a goal 19 seconds into the fourth quarter to make it 14-13. After a pair of Bearcat goals, Cappellini scored with 6:13 remaining to make it 16-14.
The Bearcats scored for the final time at the 5:02 mark to make it 17-14. Winterlik started the comeback for the Flyers with a goal at 4:27. McKinnon cut the lead to one with a goal at 3:45. She then evened the score at 17-17 with 45 seconds left to complete the comeback.
OVERTIME: Lewis 1, McKendree 0
McKinnon capped the Flyer comeback with a win, scoring with 14 seconds on the clock.
