#11 Lewis Men’s Lacrosse Honors Seniors; Defeats William Jewell Saturday

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The No. 11 Lewis University men's lacrosse team defeated William Jewell 23-7 Saturday (April 19). The Flyers honored their 17 seniors after the match as Anthony Mattio (Plainfield, Illinois/Plainfield North HS), Anthony Luczak (Arlington Heights, Illinois/St. Viator HS / Milwaukee School of Engineering), Luke Schroeder (Plymouth, Minnesota/Totino-Grace HS), Joshua Krolik, Leo Dunlap (Omaha, Nebraska/Creighton Preparatory HS), Dominic Bravata (Portage, Michigan/Portage Northern HS), Dylan Hines (San Diego, California/Poway HS), Fernando Garcia (San Diego, California/Mira Mesa HS), Domenic Tarello (Libertyville, Illinois/Libertyville HS), Titus Chapman (Knoxville, Tennessee/Farragut HS), Ty DeSplinter (Fishers, Indiana/Hamilton Southeastern HS), Trevor Collier (Millersville, Maryland/Old Mill HS), Mark Crowley (Crystal Lake, Illinois/Crystal Lake Central HS), Henri Marindin (White Hall, Maryland/The John Carroll School), Caleb Nikols (Glen Ellyn, Illinois/Glenbard West HS) and Xan Hayes (Leonardtown, Maryland/Leonardtown HS) were all recognized.

GAME SUMMARY
FIRST QUARTER: No. 11 Lewis 8, William Jewell 1 
Lewis scored the first six goals of the contest, taking an early 6-0 lead. Tarello netted the first two goals of the match in the first 31 seconds after winning the face-off with his second goal, set up by Logan Suchy (Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota/Simley HS) after picking up the ground ball. 
 
Dominic Bravata (Portage, Michigan/Portage Northern HS) made it 3-0 after Hayes sent it inside for the score. Good entered the stat sheet by scoring his 33rdgoal of the season off a pass from Metheny, extending it 4-0. 
 
Hayes recorded the next goal for Lewis after finding the back of the net for a 5-0 advantage. Lance McCann (Elmhurst,Illinois/York Community HS) connected with Good for his second goal of the contest to make it 6-0 with 3:22 to go in the first.
 
William Jewell scored its first goal of the contest with a strike at 1:57 to play in the first. On the ensuing face-off, Dylan Kendrick (Chanhassen, Minnesota/Chanhassen HS) won it and secured the ground ball and took it all the way for the score, making it 7-1.
 
Camden Rappis (Delafield, Wisconsin/Kettle Moraine HS) fed it inside to Kevin Blaz (McHenry, Illinois/Marian Central Catholic HS) for a goal with less than one minute to go in the quarter, giving Lewis a 8-1 lead.
 
SECOND QUARTER: No. 11 Lewis 8, William Jewell 1
Lewis scored the first four goals of the second quarter, extending the lead to 12-1. Hayes netted a goal in the first 100 seconds of the period.
 
Blaz added another unassisted goal 51 seconds later, giving Lewis a 10-1 lead. Just 26 seconds later, Metheny passed it to Luke Schroeder (Plymouth, Minnesota/Totino-Grace HS) for the score, extending the lead out to 11-1. Sheedy found Good for an opening with 6:38 to go before halftime, increasing Lewis' lead to 12-1. William Jewell scored the next goal with 4:46 remaining in the half, making it 12-2. 
 
Lewis closed out the first half with the last four goals, giving it a 16-2 lead at the break. Bravata took the ball himself and found the back of cage, making it 13-2. 
 
Good threw the ball inside to Paul Ruskoski (Tulsa, Oklahoma/Bishop Kelley HS) for the score, extending the Lewis lead to 14-2. Schroeder decided to take it himself with 1:34 left on the clock for the score, his 15th goal of the season, making it 15-2.
 
Good found another open man as he located McCann with 24 seconds remaining for the goal, securing the 16-2 advantage. 
 
THIRD QUARTER: No. 11 Lewis 4, William Jewell 2
The Cardinals scored the first goal of the second half, cutting the deficit down to 16-3. Rappis responded with back-to-back goals for Lewis as the second one was assisted by Zach Buddelmeyer (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro HS), making it 18-3. 
 
Buddelmeyer was able to enter the scoring after Max Anderson (Prior Lake, Minnesota/Prior Lake HS) fed it to him for the goal, giving Lewis a 19-3 lead with 2:01 to play. Nolan Dalep (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada/Claremont Secondary School) entered the score sheet after taking the goal himself and found the back of the cage for a 20-3 advantage. 
 
William Jewell closed out the third quarter with the next goal, making it 20-4 after three.

FOURTH QUARTER: No. 11 Lewis 3, William Jewell 3
Chapman was able to score his first career goal to begin the fourth quarter, 20 seconds in, giving Lewis a 21-4 lead. William Jewell scored the next two goals, making it 21-6.
 
Sheedy got on the scoring column by recording a goal off the pass from Fritz Whalen (Buford, Georgia/Buford High School) making it 22-6. The Cardinals scored their final goal of the contest with 5:30 remaining which made it 22-7. 
 
Lewis scored the final goal of the contest after Garcia passed it to Wyatt Hoetker (Simpsonville, Kentucky/Christian Academy of Louisville) with 2:30 left in the game making it 23-7.
 
FINAL SCORE: No. 11 Lewis 23, William Jewell 7
