ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The No. 10 Lewis University men's lacrosse team suffered a setback on the road against No. 12 Maryville 14-10 in the battle of top-15 teams Saturday (April 5).

GAME SUMMARY
FIRST QUARTER: No. 12 Maryville 7, No. 10 Lewis 2
Maryville scored the first four goals of the contest, making it 4-0 in favor of the Saints. Lewis got on the scoreboard at the 7:44 mark after Good capitalized on the man-up opportunity after receiving the ball from Metheny.
Maryville answered back 46 seconds later, extending their lead to 5-1. Lewis took advantage of another man-up chance 21 seconds that when Rappis found Ruskoski for the score, cutting the deficit down to 5-2.
The Saints closed out the opening period with a pair of goals in the final two minutes, giving Maryville a 7-2 advantage after one.
SECOND QUARTER: No. 10 Lewis 6, No. 12 Maryville 2
Lewis scored the opening goal of the second after Rappis fed it inside to Schroeder for the goal, scoring 51 seconds in the period. The Saints struck back with the next goal 32 seconds later, maintaining a five-goal lead.
The Flyers scored the next two goals including one from Schroeder, making it 8-4.
AJ Baumley (Huntley, Illinois/Huntley HS) connected with Ruskoski for the next goal narrowing it to 8-5.
Maryville scored their final goal of the second quarter with 9:07 remaining in the first half. Lewis scored the last three goals of the first half in a five-minute span.
Trevor Collier (Millersville, Maryland/Old Mill HS) passed it to
Nolan Dalep (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada/Claremont Secondary School) for the score. Good recorded his second goal of the contest after receiving the ball from
Xan Hayes (Leonardtown, Maryland/Leonardtown HS).
Lewis went into halftime with some momentum after
Kevin Blaz (McHenry, Illinois/Marian Central Catholic HS) found the back of the cage with 28 seconds remaining.
THIRD QUARTER: No. 12 Maryville 2, No. 10 Lewis 1
Metheny found Good in the early stages of the second half, tying the contest at 9-9. Maryville regained the lead at 10-9 after having the advantage on the field with a man-up goal.
The Saints extended their lead to 11-9 by scoring the next goal.
FOURTH QUARTER: No. 12 Maryville 3, No. 10 Lewis 1
Maryville took advantage of the man-up opportunity in the opening 13 seconds of the fourth and found the back of the net, extending their lead to 12-9. Schroeder was able to get the Flyers back on track with his third goal of the contest.
The Saints added to their lead with 2:23 remaining in the contest, making it 14-10. That score would hold as Maryville won 14-10.
FINAL SCORE: No. 12 Maryville 14, No. 10 Lewis 10
