Allendale, Mich. -- The Lewis University baseball team lost its first game of the 2025 DII Baseball National Tournament to Northwood on Thursday (May 15) after scoring six runs in the seventh.

SUMMARY
The Flyers started out Thursday's game scoreless through six innings, while also allowing Northwood to score a run in the second and two in the third.
Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) led off the seventh inning with a walk and later scored after
Jackson Hunley (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) was hit by pitch with
the bases loaded.
Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) hit a two-RBI single scoring both
Will Bruno (Upton, MA/UNC Pembroke) and
Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) to tie the game at three.
GLVC Player of the Year
Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill./UNC-Pembroke) would hit a ball that found its way to deep center field, streaking around the bases, Kocen scored on a three-run inside the park home run for a 6-3 Lewis lead.
The Flyers then gave up five runs in the eighth inning and one in the top of the ninth, they were unable to gather any more runs in the remainder of the game and they dropped their first game of the 2025 National Tournament.

UP NEXT
The Flyers will take on No. 7 Missouri S&T in the elimination bracket, Friday, May 16 starting at 10 a.m. CT. The two teams did not meet throughout the regular season or the GLVC Tournament.
