Women's Soccer Downs Upper Iowa for First Conference Win of the Year

Fayette, Iowa – Sunday afternoon at Pattison Field, Lewis earned a 2-0 victory over Upper Iowa to secure their first conference win of the year

With the result, Lewis moves to 2-0-3 (1-0-1 GLVC) on the season, while Upper Iowa drops to 2-2-2 (0-1-1 GLVC).

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Flyers struck first early as in the seventh minute, freshman Caroline Hadler (Elk Grove Ill./Elk Grove HS) received a ball from graduate student Anna Dazey (Corvallis, Ore./Linfield) and fired it into the back of the net to put Lewis on the board.

Lewis doubled its advantage the forty-third minute when senior Morgan Krupp (New Baltimore, Mich./Anchor Bay High School) converted a penalty kick to make it a 2-0 contest after being dragged down in the box by Catherine Wolf of Upper Iowa minutes earlier.
The red and white kept the Peacocks at bay in the second half as they limited the home side to just three shots to seal the 2-0 road win.

Overall, the Flyers limited UIU to just five total shots, three of which were saved by sophomore Josie Graziosi (Galena, OH/Big Walnut) to secure the shutout. Lewis recorded six shots on target, testing Upper Iowa's Sienna Johnson who came up with four saves. Lewis kept steady pressure on the Peacocks' defense, finishing with a 12-5 advantage in shots and a 10-0 margin in corner kicks.
