Kirksville, MO. – Friday afternoon in Kirksville, Missouri, the Flyers came up short in a 2-1 loss to Truman State in GLVC action.
With the result, Lewis moved to 2-1-3 (1-1-1 GLVC) on the season, while Truman State improved to 2-2-2 (2-1-1 GLVC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Truman State got on the board first in the 17th minute as Quinn Nauman got by the Lewis defense and slotted the ball into the back of the net. The hosts doubled their lead in the 32nd minute to enter halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Lewis struck first in the second half to cut their deficit as Anna Dazey (Corvallis, Ore./Linfield) scored off an assist from junior Timea Rojnik (Bratislava, Slovakia/British Internnational) to get the Flyers on the board. Despite a strong second half in which Lewis out shot the Bulldogs 8-3, the Flyers were unable to find the tying goal.
Lewis held a ten-to-six advantage in total shots, including a five-to-four edge in shots on goal.The Flyers also led in corner kicks, four-to-three. Truman State committed five fouls compared to three by Lewis. Sophomore goalkeeper Josie Graziosi (Galena, OH/Big Walnut) recorded two saves for the Flyers.
MATCH NOTES
- Lewis is now 7-9-4 all-time against Truman State
- The Flyers unbeaten streak ends at five games. It was their longest streak since the 2021 campaign.
- Graziosi has made at least two saves in four out of five matches she has played in this year.
