Kirskville, Mo. -
Roman Hernandez (Aurora, Ill./Aurora East) with a hat trick in the first half gave Lewis all the room they needed to defeat Truman State Friday (Sept. 26).
Lewis become 3-1-3 overall with a conference record of 2-1 while Truman State falls to 1-4-1 overall with a 0-3 conference record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
On another hot Midwestern day Lewis looked to secure another conference win after the loss to Upper Iowa on Sunday (Sept. 21). First goal of the game came off of a great string of passes from the Lewis offense. Starting with
Mikey Revell (Largo, Maryland/Bishop McNamara) on the right side, down to
Simon Blaesdahl (Copenhagen, Denmark/Radford University), over to
Noah Kawaguchi (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey), who tapped it off to Hernandez for his first goal of the contest.
Truman would strike back a few moments later with a corner kick goal which was credited to Jacob Panagos. The Flyers got back to work on offense with Hernandez scoring a corner kick goal himself with an arching cross that found it's way through the defense into the corner of the net.
Hernandez would score his third and final goal of the match just before halftime with a free kick from roughly twenty yards out, once again the ball working its way through the defense for another Flyers goal.
Final goal of the match came from Kawaguchi at the 63:44 mark. Blaesdahl work his way to the end line and crossed the ball on the ground towards the Truman State keeper, Kawaguchi slid feet first to beat the goalie to the ball, a maneuver which gave him his second goal of the season, and the final score of 4-1.
Yoan Zagorov (Sofia, Bulgaria) started in net once again for the Flyers allowing one goal and one save in just over 73 minutes, as
Jeremiah Higgins (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) took over to close out the match. Truman State started Owen Robben who allowed three goals with two saves. Stuart Whitmer started the second half for the Bulldogs allowing one goal with two saves.
