LIBERTY, Mo. - The Lewis University men's soccer team finished in a scoreless draw with William Jewell Sunday (Sept. 28) at Greene Stadium. The Flyers moved to 3-1-4 overall, 2-1-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. William Jewell is 2-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the GLVC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Flyers outshot the Cardinals 7-4 for the game, including a 3-1 advantage in the second half. Lewis totaled three shots on goal, while Jewell had two. Jewell had a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks. The Flyers committed 12 fouls to just five from the Cardinals, including no fouls called against them in the second half.
Hubert Grele (Bridgeview, Ill./Argo HS) had two shots on goal to lead the Flyers, while Noah Kawaguchu and
Simon Blaesdahl (Copenhagen, Denmark/Radford University) had two shots each.
Yoan Zagorov (Sofia, Bulgaria) had two saves in goal. Grele put one of his shots on goal in the 81st minute, but the shot was turned away.
The tie ended Lewis' six-game winning streak against Jewell and the Flyers are now 9-4-2 in the series.
