Romeoville, Ill. – The Lewis University women's cross country team kicked off its 2025 season by hosting the Lewis Early Bird on the Lewis Cross Country Course.
The University of Chicago placed first as a team with 19 points while Olivet Nazarene landed in second with a score of 63. The Flyers finished third out of seven teams with 78 points. Estelle Snider of Chicago placed first individually with a time of 14:25.3.
In her first collegiate race, freshman
Payton Frey (Highland, Ill./Highland) paced all Lewis runners with a ninth place finish and a final time of 15:17.5. Fellow freshman
Louisa Wilson (Williamsville, Ill./Williamsville) landed in 13th place with a time of 15:53.0 while sophomore
Kristina Findley (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) was close behind with a time of 16:13.7. Sophomore
Janellisa Oceguera (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) ended with a 19th place finish (16:17.9) while sophomore
Madison Findley (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) closed out the top 20 (16:20.7).
UP NEXT
Lewis will compete in the National Catholic Invite, hosted by Notre Dame, on Sept. 19. The race is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
50 YEARS OF WOMEN'S ATHLETICS
Lewis University is also organizing several alumni and family events throughout the women's athletic seasons to commemorate this historic milestone. These special gatherings will provide an opportunity for former athletes, families, and supporters to reconnect and celebrate the achievements of women's sports at Lewis.
