Romeoville, Ill. – Two second half goals from senior
Breanna Culver (Roscoe, Ill./Wisconsin-Milwaukee) helped the Lewis University women's soccer team secure a 2-2 draw with the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Sunday afternoon at Lewis Stadium.
The Flyers moved to 1-0-1 after the draw while Parkside shifted to 0-1-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers struck first in the 12th minute as Carley Nolte passed the Lewis defense and sent the ball into the back of the net. Despite Lewis outshooting Parkside 11-2 in the first half, the visitors entered the locker room with their 1-0 lead in tact.
Out of the halftime break, the Rangers doubled their lead in the 55th minute as Emma Ambrose found the back of the net off an assist from Emily Mikkelson.
Lewis cracked the code to get past Parkside's defense in the 70th minute as Culver fired a ball from outside the box into the back of the net to make it a 2-1 ballgame.

Talia Kaempf (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) sent a ball forward that found the foot of Culver who rolled it into the bottom corner to tie the match, 2-2 and notch her second tally of the afternoon.
Senior
Caitlin Yurkovich (Bartlet, Ill./College of Dupage) made one save in the contest across 90 minutes of action for the red and white while Rebecca DuFour made a team-best two saves in 45 minutes of action. Lewis ended the day with a 17-10 advantage in shots and 5-3 edge in shots on goal.
MATCH NOTES
- Today marked the first tie between both sides since Sept. 5, 2018 when they ended in a 2-2 draw.
- Culver is the first member of the Flyers to score two goals in a game since Melisa Hadzic (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) and Elisa Aguilar (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield East) scored two each against William Jewell on Sept. 22, 2023.
- Lewis attempted 15-or-more shots in a game for the first time this season and first instance since Nov 1, 2024, against UIndy.
