HOW IT HAPPENED
The Flyer and Peacocks exchanged buckets in the opening three minutes, but an 11-0 run from Upper Iowa gave them their first double-digit lead of the game, 17-6, with 15:32 to play in the first half. After once again exchanging buckets throughout the middle of the half, the Flyers mounted a comeback as a McCrear bucket uncorked an 8-2 run that brought Lewis to within four, 38-34, with 4:52 left in the opening stanza.
Upper Iowa stymied the Lewis push and ended the frame with a 13-5 run and entered the locker room with a 51-39 advantage.
Out of the break, the Flyers knocked down back-to-back buckets, courtesy of McCrear and Cosme, to trim the ranked Peacocks lead to just eight, 51-43, with 18L27 to play. Still, Upper Iowa replied with back-to-back layups to expand their lead back to double-digits.
