Romeoville, Ill - Lewis University Basketball saw their double header spoiled by Drury University, as the men's team fell 65 - 75 on Hall of Fame Night at Neil Carey Arena.
Â
IMPACT PLAYERS
Cale Cosme (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice),
Ryan Hall (Kettering, Ohio/Kettering Fairmont), and
Drew Fisher (Los Angeles, Calif./Crespi Carmelite High School) were the Flyers' most active players on offense, with both Cosme and Hall tied at 17 points for Lewis' team-high and Fisher scoring 11, all making up for 45 of Lewis' 63 points. Cosme's and Fisher's efforts came from all ends on the floor, as Cale contributed to 7 assists, making him Lewis' most involved player in offense of the night. His 6 rebounds came second on the Flyers' team stats tonight, as Fisher grabbed a total of 8 rebounds, leaving him 2 short of a double double.Â
Â
For the visiting team, Zach Howell's notched a double-double with 33 points, going 9 - 13 from the field and 11 rebounds.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Druryopened up with a dominant first half, outscoring the Flyers 33 - 23. Although shooting wasn't the most effective for Drury in the first half, coming at 40% from the field, and 33.33% from the 3 point line, they limited Lewis to only 9-27 shooting from the floor and 3-12 from long range.Â
Â
Coming back from the locker rooms, Lewis saw more productive offensive action, as they managed to score 40 points in the second half, coming up two points short of Drury's 42 second half points. The Flyers were more effective with their shooting this time around, as they shot a 16 - 31 (51.61%) from the field, and 4 - 12 (33.33%) from 3-point range, an improvement from the first half's shooting efforts. The Flyers took advantage of points in the paint, scoring 34, and finishing the game with better shooting percentage from the field than the visiting team (43.1% to Drury's 41.8%). Although Lewis' better offensive efforts in the second half brought the game closer in score, trimming it down to just nine points with 2:11 to play after a Cosme layup, it still wasn't enough, as the visitors secured the win leading by double digits for the final score of 65-75.Â
