Uindy Bests Men's Basketball

Indianapolis, Ind. - The Lewis University Men's Basketball team lost Saturday (Feb. 21) after a GLVC game against the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds.

Uindy improved their overall record to 15-11 with a 13-5 GLVC record. The Flyers drop to a 4-22 record, and a 2-16 GLVC record.

IMPACT PLAYERS

Sophomore guard Cale Cosme (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) led the floor in minutes for the Flyers with 40 and also was an impact in the assists column as the game's leader with nine total. Meanwhile scoring leader of the day junior guard Ryan Hall (Kettering, Ohio/Kettering Fairmont) led with 24 points while knocking down seven three's. Freshman forward Drew Fisher (Los Angeles, Calif./Crespi Carmelite High School) made his presence known getting to the free throw line eight times and knocking down five while collecting five offensive rebounds and three defensive boards.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Greyhounds led the first half in total points, out-scoring Lewis 36-31 before half. It was an evenly paced first 20 minutes for both teams as UIndy led in rebounds 21-20, while both sides were also within one of each other for assists, turnovers and steals. The UIndy bench was able to generate eight points while Lewis had none, which led to the first half lead for the Greyhounds going into halftime.

In the second half, the Flyers field goal percentage dropped dramatically, it fell to just 24.2% while UIndy capitalized and connected on a strong 58.3% from the field. The Greyhounds also controlled the paint, with 34 total points inside to just Lewis' eight. The Flyers out-rebounded the Greyhounds 21-16 but could not come back to take the lead.

GAME NOTES

  • The Flyers were heavily out-scored in the paint by the Greyhounds and were unable to grab a lead after leading 3-2 early.

  • Lewis was strong rebounding wise and kept pace with UIndy in terms of offensive rebounds but were out-rebounded defensively which led to extra UIndy points.
