HOW IT HAPPENED
The Flyers dominated the Wolves across the first quarter and start of the second as they commanded a 4-0 lead just under 40 seconds into the second period after a
Carter Korzenski (Orchard Park, N.Y./Limestone) goal. Newberry got on the board at the 12:32 mark to snap their scoreless streak but Lewis found another scoring spark as Wesner notched his second goal of the day to spurn an 6-0 scoring streak to send the hosts into the break with a 10-1 lead.Â
Out of halftime, Newberry attempted to steal the game from the red and white as they outscored Lewis 4-2 in the third and cut the Lewis lead to seven, 12-5, entering the fourth quarter.
In the final frame of action, Lewis kept Newberry at bay with each side finding the back of the net three times with the Flyers never letting their lead dip below seven the remainder of the way.Â
