Rosemont, Ill. – The Lewis University softball team came out of the Dome Invitational Sunday with a 5-4 walk-off win against Purdue Northwest and a 5-14 loss against Roosevelt University.
GAME ONE VS PURDUE NORTHWEST
Purdue opened the score at the top of the first with a single from Emma Fair that Olivia Hernandez advanced to third base and allowed Amanda DeBoer to score the run to open up the scoreboard.
The Flyers didn't take long to get a run in the scoreboard, as they managed to score a run at the bottom of the first inning after
Morgan Spodarek (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) doubled down the left field line, which allowed
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs High School) to advance to third base while
Nicole Magdziasz (Tinley Park, Ill./Providence Catholic High School) scored the run to even the game out.
While the next four innings were quiet, with no runs from either team, the Flyers saw its highest scoring inning at the bottom of the sixth, with runs from Magdziasz,
Erica Hoffman (Hebron, Ind./Boone Grove High School) and
Katie Jensen (Warrenville, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South) that put the Flyers up three. Although a run from Purdue at the top of the sixth and two runs at the top of the seventh inning brought them close to the Flyers, the Flyers managed to pull away as Hoffman singled into left field to drive in the winning run and complete the 5-4 walk-off victory.
GAME TWO VS ROOSEVELT UNIVERSITY
Roosevelt started off strong, scoring 10 of their 14 runs at the top of the first inning. Roosevelt didn't see any more runs until the end of the night at the top of the sixth inning, when they scored an additional four runs bringing their total to 14.
For Lewis, Magdziasz scored the first out of the Flyers' five runs after a hit by

The Flyers didn't get back on the scoreboard until the top of the fourth inning, after Richardson, Jensen, and Hoffman all scored runs.
